Eldorado - Calgary

Appetizers are very tasty. The corn dogs are amazing. Sausage links and brisket tacos are must haves for a meal. The waiter was chewing gum the whole time. Kind of annoying but good food none the less

We went for a stampede breakfast and we got an amazing meal for a fairly low price. Definitely want to go back.

A business colleague and I had planned to eat at another restaurant on this street but found that it had closed. Since Eldorado was just a few doors down, we decided to try it. We were greeted immediately as we entered the restaurant and, when we asked for a quiet table, were shown to a table in the back, which was perfect. I had the taco trio, although there were four tacos instead of three. Two had shrimp, one had smoked chicken and the other had seared steak. They were accompanied by three different salsas. The shrimp tacos both had two large shrimp on them. I only ate two tacos and took the remaining two home for dinner. My lunch companion had the Peruvian aji salmon. There were shrimp and mussels as well as the salmon. The salmon portion was quite small and there were not that many shrimp and mussels, however he did say the food was tasty. The tacos were $26 and the salmon $24. The food was delicious, but I would normally not spend this much for a lunch. Lucky for me, my colleague treated.

Finding a good 7 am breakfast spot in downtown Calgary has been an ongoing challenge (group of us have been breakfasting weekly for a number of years;) restaurants come and go, quality and service slide, etc. We recently tried a new spot, Eldorado BBQ lounge, on a recommendation. Turned out to be good advice - we have been there two weeks in a row and will be back. Great friendly/personal service, - and a menu with interesting variety. Went here one evening with friends and had such a great meal I came back a week later with my father for lunch. The appetizers are delicious. Do not pass up on the corn dogs, just trust me. I've got my father hooked on them now. We tried the varied platter for dinner and the portion was plenty and everything hot and fresh. Then with my father we tried the burger and cuban sandwich and were very pleased with both. The servers are attentive and will even take your jacket and hang it up for you. The atmosphere is also up-scale but inviting. Definitely going to be back!
