Saignant - Angers

Very good burgers and the staff speak good English. There is no sugar free drinks (except water) but this is a minor inconvenience. The resteraunt is compact and busy and it did tale a little while to get served but it was worth the wait

We were looking forward to trying Saignant since Chez Remi relocated. It retains the same charm (small, cosy, friendly, small menu) and was busy. My bavette was excellent - tender, full of flavour and came with nice handmade skin on skinny chips and a little salad on the side. The others ordered paleron that was quite tasty but far too small. For 19€ the piece of beef was tiny and quite insufficient for a man's appetite. There are no entrées, the cheese was good and the bread (that is not routinely served with the steak but came with the cheese), excellent (from the superb Maison du Pain near the station). We drank a good bottle of red and the bill came to 120€ for three of us. A bit steep for a steak and burger place, albeit using good ingredients. Another small niggle was that a smoke alarm went off throughout the entire meal and was not dealt with. It's a tiny place and it was really irritating.
