Restaurant bewertenThis is one of the few authentic Vietnamese restaurants that are within walking distance from the downtown core (the ones on Ellice and Sargeant) are just tad out of reach for lunch hour unless I choose to drive.<br/ <br/ I only really come here for Vermicelli, Pho or Bun Bo Hue. They make these very well, and even their appetizers (salad rolls and spring rolls) are good! If I'm feeling like a Vietnamese Sub, there's a new place a few blocks away that makes them to go so I generally go there.<br/ <br/ The service has always been quick here! I've never had to wait long for my order to be taken or for the food to arrive. The decor however is mediocre at best.<br/ <br/ Location is key in many cases, and if you're looking for an authentic bowl of Pho downtown, this place will do the trick!
Good eats and Po-Mo. I find this semi-seedy William Street restaurant to be pleasant and tasty, with just the right amount of laziness. When I say laziness, I mean that all the way from the mismatched dining sets to the under crisped BBQ pork, there is an overwhelming feeling of mediocrity in this seemingly no-care attitude but it truly embraces its real purpose...eating decent grub in a sheltered space. This is not a down side...I find this type of honesty refreshing in an industry that usually tries too hard to brand itself. The mashed up interior is a bit of a beat up open space that is littered with various kitschery. The staff is the opposite of pretentious and there is the standard fish tank to check all the boxes. As always, Sir Omnyvore recommends the deluxe vermicelli bowel. Decent enough and priced right.
Like it in a limited kind of way. I went here a few times years ago and did not like it at all but returned about 3 years ago and came across 3 dishes we really like so we return for the same 3 dishes about every 3 4 months. The dishes we like are Shrimp/Chicken Chow Mein with crispy noodles, Salt Spicy Squid and Spring Chicken with Ginger and Sesame Seed Oil. Have not tried anything else due to bad experience when they first opened. If you're looking for service this is not the place for you. The food gets ordered, the food comes and the server never comes back. When I've been able to get his attention he's more than willing to help you out. May be a language problem and he's not comfortable don't really know.
Just OK. This was average Vietnamese.. Service friendly if a bit aloof. Beef vermicelli was adequate although a little sparse on the veggies and the beef had a weird red tinge to it which was somewhat disconcerting and unusual although it was cooked and tasted ok. Something to do with the spices used (I hope, but no ill effects later). Not a resounding review I know, which is why it is just ok. If in the neighbourhood it's a decent meal but don't drive or walk too far to go here...
Had lunch recently. Came at noon but place extremely slow even though located near busy community college. salad rolls served 30 seconds after ordered. Looked & tasted pre-made & refrigerated overnight. Virtually no shrimp or pork to be seen. all vermicelli noodle and very sparse...More
