The Buttery Sandwich Deli - Wigan

The staff at this restaurant were very rude, especially the woman with bright pink hair who was sarcastic. When I asked for a sandwich on brown bread, she replied sarcastically, asking "Brown what?" and pulling a face. I regretted not walking out right then. If you can't provide good service with a smile, you shouldn't be in the hospitality industry. You never know what kind of day or week your customers may have had! I was polite in my request, but left feeling upset and angry that someone would treat me that way.

I have been going to this restaurant every day for breakfast. I always order toast with the best butter, which costs £1 per slice, as opposed to 60p for margarine. Yesterday, when I went, I was charged £3 for 3 slices of toast with best butter. When I questioned it, I was told they are only allowed to use margarine. I am annoyed that customers are being deceived and charged more for what they advertise as best butter. The customer behind me was only charged £1.80 for their order. If you are going to advertise best butter, do not try to deceive customers by pretending margarine is the same thing.

The food at this restaurant was very enjoyable - fresh, tasty, and I even took home a homemade pie for tea. I'll definitely be returning tomorrow, as the staff were really lovely.

Have loved this place for a long time, makes a great lunch option when at work. Very dismayed however at the recent brave but stupid business plan of switching the grills off at 12 noon in the middle of winter. I want hot food at this time of year and when I ask for spam and egg on toast at 12.45 to be offered the days special of chicken salad on a roll made me leave the shop! Poor choice guys poor poor choice
