Restaurant bewertenThis place is absolutely amazing! We drove all the way from Howick just to sample these pasties, and they did not disappoint! Sean not only prepares the pasties himself but also makes the lard that goes into them! These are honestly the best pasties I've ever tasted, and they are definitely worth the trip!
As a British person, I can't help but feel a bit uncomfortable paying $8 for a pasty, but they are delicious. It's a lovely spot near the wharf, and on a sunny day, there's a small picnic table where you can sit and take in the view.
The pastries here are absolutely delicious. I had a chance to chat with the owner and chef, who mentioned that he uses only butter and lard (which he makes himself) for his pastries. I tried the classic beef Cornish, which is a flavorful savory treat. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but it was pleasantly peppery with chunks of potatoes mixed in. The highlight for me was the onion and cheese pie, featuring supposedly 18-month aged cheddar—it truly won my heart! It was soft, cheesy, and bursting with flavor. Finding this place can be a bit tricky, but if you follow the pink signs, it’s definitely worth the effort!
Definitely the best pasties I have ever tried!! <br/ Pastry is a dream to eat, buttery and cooked to perfection and the contents of the pasty are also beautifully cooked and definitely packed well. <br/ Customer service is fantastic with Sean being very pleasant to talk to, I really just have nothing negative to say about The Kitchen Door! <br/ <br/ Would definitely recommend this place to everyone in the area and to make the drive up to Hobbs Wharf!
Yes. All I can say. I grew up in Cornwall and these are proper Oggy pasties. <br/ <br/ We venture up here for special occasions as they never disappoint! <br/ <br/ The meat, vegetarian and cheese onion pasties are on point. Perfectly cooked, buttery, peppery goodness.<br/ <br/ The scotch eggs were delightful and I have it on good authority that the pork pies are amazing. So want to try the Scotch pies but they sold out last time! <br/ <br/ If you want a taste of home or are keen to try the finest of British cuisine..this is the place!
