Restaurant bewertenWe had gone out to do some grocery shopping. And when we were in the parking lot we could see that very close there was a restaurant that looked pretty good from the outside so we decided to go inside. P.J. Whelihan's is a place with a super nice atmosphere, good music. As a first impression we liked it. Our waitress was named Mara. She was very nice and helpful. I asked for a mojito but they didn't have all the ingredients. So she recommended another rum drink. it was super tasty. My husband ordered a local beer from the same restaurant. They offered him a test and he liked it very much. As for food, we ordered the wings of the month that had bourbon and cherry. They were incredibly rich, fresh, and the semi-sweet touch was perfect. We wanted to share everything. So we also ordered the buffalo chicken flatbread it was pretty good but the chicken a bit chewy. Then we ordered some chicken quesadilla. They weren't my favorites. but they were nice, maybe a little dry. And finally my husband convinced me to order the Blackened fish tacos. And without thinking it became the best option. The juicy tacos, the crispy fish. Excellent combination. I'm not into eating a lot of fish. And the idea of eating fish in a tacos did not convince me. But today I understand that you have to venture out to try new flavors. In summary, the journey was very good and the service was excellent. That's why I give them 5 stars. A place has to be a collection of everything. They have to improve a few small details in the food, but they are minimal. I would definitely go back to this place.
The place was full but there was ample seating and no wait time. The waitresses were fast. This is a sports bar type restaurant and there are no bad seats. There are wall to wall tv's on every wall and can be seen from every seat. The menu had a large selection(not your average sports bar) and the food was spectacular and served fast. This is one of my new favorite places.
The bartender is amazing, but the rest of the place is a mess. There is no communication with the front of house and there are frequent small issues with every order. The food is mediocre and seems to be geared towards a mass market audience.
I believe that PJ's issues stem from poor management, including inadequate training and procedures. For example, when food is ready, it should be brought out to the table by any available staff member rather than being left to sit until the server gets to it. While the food and service have the potential to be good, too often they fall short of expectations. If you enjoy sports, beer, and basic bar food, then PJ's may be a suitable spot for you. However, if you are seeking a more consistent dining experience, there are plenty of other excellent places in West Reading that are worth your time and money.
Our server, Brandi, had a wonderful personality and the food always exceeds expectations.
