Restaurant bewertenWe stopped by for a late lunch/early dinner. The place is very informal, which suits us to a "t". We ate outside, next to the railing, with a beautiful view of the little harbor. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. Their menu was pretty basic, but offered a good variety of seafood choices. We ordered a cup of chowder each, and shared a grilled cheese/lobster sandwich. The chowder was outstanding! It was full of scallops, lobster, chunks of white fish, clams, carrots, celery, all in a cream base that was wonderfully seasoned. It was served with slices of home made bread that was excellent - heavy and yeasty, with a nice crisp crust - just right for dipping in the chowder. The serving was very generous and was really a meal in itself. The toasted cheese & lobster sandwich was delicious - not too much cheese, lots of lobster, and toasted golden brown on the same wonderful home made bread. It was served with fries and cole slaw. The fries were perfect - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The cole slaw was good as well. We topped it off with beer for my husband and a ginger ale (Canada Dry, of course!) for myself. The beer was just OK - nothing to write home about. We were very happy with our choice and would stop there again for more of the same. Other diners had ordered fish and chips, and the servings were huge - large pieces of fish and lots of fries. All in all, a great place to eat.
My wife, toddler and I stopped in after visiting the lighthouse. We knew nothing about it beforehand. My wife was dying for Lobster so we gave it a go. She enjoyed the Lobster but my fish and chips were fantastic. Other fish and chips we had in NS were very heavy and thickly battered. this was nice light and crisp. Some of the best I've ever had.
We ate here because it was recommended and found it disappointing. The fried seafood looked and tasted frozen..they were out of oysters...the chowder was ok but I have had better...a beautiful view over the lovely village but just average food that was a little too pricey.
The food is here was quite good! I was disappointed that they had run out of mussels but that happens sometimes. The portion sizes are massive! My husband and I almost took a full meal home. The deck is a great way to enjoy the views though!
My husband and I had a late lunch here. Shared both a bowl of chowder cram- packed with seafood and lobster grilled cheese sandwich on homemade bread. And they actually offer sweet tea, up to southern US standards. All good.
