Restaurant bewertenMy wife and I had a nice meal freshly cooked and paid attention to the needs of my wife, the beer was super and good friendly service great British pub
We found this restaurant through Google and the rating was just okay. We wish we had read the reviews here beforehand. There were five of us with disappointing experiences. We think we may have had the same table as a previous commenter (sticky) and possibly the same chips (stale). The wine, beer, and coke were all subpar, the place was dirty, and the food was tasteless. Despite being hungry, we stayed after being told the chef was out. It turns out we should have followed our instincts. As my son put it, the microwave should be on salary because we could hear it go off and our hearts sank.
Booked a table for 5 for sat evening, arrived to an almost empty pub ordered 2 beers and 3 soft drinks and was told we could sit anywhere. Sat down at a very sticky table in a very plain dreary room and when the drinks...arrived we asked for menus. The reply was Well we don't really do menus, we have a board you pick from in the bar area After looking at the board and the surroundings we thought it better to move on. I asked to pay for the drinks, 2 beers and 3 soft drinks, £18.70p!!!! Ridiculous! It needs a good dose of refurbishment.
I had Sunday lunch there, which was good, large portions, even a small meal was a feast. However I was disappointed with the cleanliness’ of the bar counter and our table which were sticky with an off-putting residue and could do with a good scrub....I know the pub has an ambiance of ware and tear but come on we’re in an era of Covid.
Just absolutely avoid. Nice staff. BUT truly, truly DISMAL food. Rock hard, stale pie, chips that tasted like they’d been sat there for 3 days. The decor of the place is absolutely falling apart and the owners look as though they couldn’t give a monkeys....Avoid.
