Restaurant bewertenOur sever was great. Attentive and friendly but not an overly a talker. ( which I like) she served us quickly. We started with antijitoes and they were pretty good and nachos which were poor. The nachos were soggy and the tomatoes were mushy and old. I got the brew house burger. It seemed like they didn't have quite enough meat to make a full patty when preparing mine but just made it anyway. Two other people got burgers as well and their patties were noticeably larger. My first several bites were all bun. The bun got soggy quick because of the guacamole dropping everywhere. Maybe I would go back someday if other people were going but I wouldn't order any of those things and may stick to safer more run of the mill choices.
I had a decent experience at the Jazz Room last month (no food, just drinks and music) and thought maybe they had addressed their terrible service issues upstairs. Couldn't have been more wrong. Even promising young servers get sucked into this vortex of uncaring and even antagonistic "service". You will think that you're on a hidden camera show, it is so incredibly bad. The 2 brothers who own the place are the worst, and their young untrained staff talk openly about how much they dislike them whenever they aren't around. Avoid at all costs.
Stopped in for lunch on the patio on a sunny weekend day - took servers over 15 minutes to realize we were there. While the patio was busy, it was by no means as busy as I have seen this place in the past, and the servers didn't appear to be overwhelmed, just absent.Server was nice, not overly personable or friendly. When we had some questions about menu items, she made a point of mentioning that normally she doesn't work "up here" and would clarify with the kitchen. Drinks were good though!!Both our meals (fajitas and quinoa wrap) were so oily, both myself and my dining companion remarked about how much the food was drowning in oil. In fact, the wrap was inedible it was so oily. When we mentioned it to our server, she completely agreed, spoke with the kitchen, and did not charge us for that item. While it was unexpected, it was most definitely appreciated, and we most definitely tipped her accordingly!! Unfortunately, this establishment has gone downhill in their service standards over the last few years. While we were dining on one of the first nice weekends of the spring, and they were seemingly understaffed, I hope that this establishment takes the time to adequately staff and train their employees in preparation for a busy summer patio season.
Multi ethnic staff was friendly and efficient. We had drinks. Their own brews were tasty. Food ordered and we all got it at the same time. Food was hot, delicious....
We visited the Lion Brewery Restaurant on a very Saturday evening and sat at the last available table. With that in mind I am writing this review.I wanted to love this Waterloo landmark, but sadly it was lacking in many areas. Since it was very busy when we arrived, it was understandable that our server took approximately 15 minutes to even come and greet us and offer us a beverage. Unfortunately, this very slow service continued throughout our visit. We ordered our drinks and an appetizer - garlic bread with cheese for the table. The drinks arrived and all the glasses were very cloudy and my wine glass had lip marks on it. Not appealing to say the least. The garlic bread arrived shortly thereafter, but it was only warm on top - enough to melt the cheese and the bread was cold and stale throughout. It took another 20 minutes for the server to return so that we could order our main courses of wings and stuffed chickens with potato hash. The main courses took around 40 minutes to arrive. Please remember it was busy and we understood that the kitchen was likely overwhelmed. During that 40 wait our server did not come by once and everyone ran out of drinks. While we were willing to wait for our food, it was very annoying to not be offered beverages for 40 minutes. The food was hot when it arrived - which was nice. The wings were cooked properly and the sauces which were ordered on the side, arrived according to our order. The hot sauce was tasty, but the suicide sauce had a very odd flavour and was actually milder than the hot sauce. The stuffed chicken was just ok - I really wish there had been more flavour to it. The potato hash was large slices of potatoes that I believe had been pan fried and were under cooked. We did need to wait quite a long time for our server to return so that we could ask for our bill. By this time, we were done waiting for everything and were ready to go.All in all, not an experience.
