Restaurant bewertenMy husband and I had a delicious lunch here! I had the crab cake sandwich and it was so delicious! While it’s a little on the pricier side here, it’s definitely worth it to go if you’re traveling in the area. All of the employees were super friendly as well.
The food was delicious! The presentation was great. The atmosphere is historic and prestigious. The hostess on Labor Day was rude, I asked a question and was told to wait until she was finished cleaning a table. It was a forceful response. Our waiter took our order, he pointed to the menu and said we charge 5% for operational costs, we said ok no problem. He brought our food, NEVER returned to ask if we wanted another drink, refill water, however; a couple of “ regulars” walked in and he couldn’t have been more excited and pleasant. Another couple noticed the inattentive attitude he had towards both of our tables. We had planned on ordering more drinks and dessert, he just brought the check. At that point in time his tip reflected his lack of attention and attitude.I always tip 30-40%, but not that day.The main point is service lacks, the food is delicious but if the waitstaff continues to pick and choose who they are attentive to,the business will suffer eventually. It’s a historic building and lots of famous politicians frequented the establishment but in Labor Day it was mostly tourists that obviously the wait staff wasn’t interested in serving ?
This is a must visit! Although book ahead as it gets busy. Lovely authentic tavern, complete with wooden furnishings, booths and eclectic decor. (Ask for the booth where JFK proposed to Jackie! The menu has all the classics and they are huge portions. The crab cake sandwich was delicious, as was the French onion soup.
I had an amazing experience there. The waiters are really keeping it professional and welcoming despite the amount of clients to handle. The food was delicious and the environnement of Georgetown lovely.
Okay where to start..A work trip with Amazon landed us at Martin’s Tavern. We obviously wanted to go due to the previous reviews and some good food. After a long day one of my co-workers came in with a sleeveless shirt to the tavern , we checked in.. we’re seated , and ordered drinks. About 10 minutes into sitting down , a waitress we had not seen comes to us and says that my co worker could not have a sleeveless shirt in the restaurant. This was understandable, and they offered him a shirt for 25$ , and that seemed to be that, no worries.. Well about 5-10 minutes after that, a random what I assume to be a manager guy comes from behind , places his arm around my friend, and begins to tell him they do not have a shirt in his size and that instead he can buy a had or a souvenir glass instead to stay.. ? I didn’t understand.. so it’s not really about the shirt it’s about the tax of having a sleeveless shirt? Not to mention multiple women coming in with sleeveless shirts and being seated. This is a six top table company event about to spend hundreds if not close to thousand dollars here.We completely understand the sleeves even though others didn’t have them , and I would mention my friend is a bigger guy which with no sleeves didn’t fit their look. The service was so poor we walked about before our drinks arrived due to the pure lack of professionalism never touch a customer who doesn’t know you the sleeve tax instead of the need for an actual shirt , and the way they waited 10-15 min into our sit down to tell us. I got some great pictures, but won’t be back for quite some time if ever..
