Restaurant bewertenI would have rather gone to Taco Bell. A little over $14! for a disrespectful tortilla filled with chewy unseasoned steak and some other stuff. I ate about a third of the burrito, threw the rest away, and heated up a hot pocket. I came here on a recommendation and now I'm rethinking if I should ever trust their judgment based solely on this woefully underwhelming burrito. It felt embarrassed for district taco. There's no way this place will withstand the test of time and no one who's had good Mexican food would dare come here a second time. Especially not at those prices.
The food was really bland. I'll start with that. I think a few others have mentioned it as well but this was my first and most likely my last time eating as District Tacos. I got a veggie bowl. It was supposed to come with rice but I don't know if they are cutting costs or just didn't have enough rice but there was maybe 2-3 tablespoons of rice in the bowl. I just told them to put all the veggies in without looking and once I opened the lid, imma be honest, it was very visually appetizing. Everything had a dull gray quality to it. Also, for such a large bowl, one would expect more than a quarter of the bowl to be full. Maybe use smaller bowls so they look more full. As far as taste, after the sight of the bowl (rice, corn, sour cream, lettuce, black beans, pico de gallo, cilantro, onions, jalapeños) I wasn't expecting much. I'm glad I set my expectation low. Why did nothing have any seasoning? It's nice that they cooked a lot of items on the grill but the food still needs to be seasoned, preferably before putting it on the grill. The char of the grill adds its own flavor but other than that, no original seasoning. Even the salsa was bland. How is that possible? The guacamole was salty which was odd. In a landscape of so many other restaurants in DC that serve similar type/style foods, District Tacos doesn't stand out for me. I give a star for price and one more because it wasn't busy and the people were nice.
Came in on a Sunday afternoon to waste time. You order on touch screen devices, like ipads. Pay on those devices. Your name will be called when ready It was a bit loud in this place. Eastern Market was going on so there was people in and out, the music was a bit loud too. It's best to stand at the pick up area to listen for your name to be called Beer available The young Man at the front counter was super nice! Plenty of seats, bathroom could have used a better cleaning
I was in the area and saw DC Tacos close by so I decided to grab dinner on the way home...I was excited to have some DC Tacos...it had been awhile. I was delighted to see fish tacos being served today. It's served on certain days and Sunday was one of them. I'm writing this because I enjoyed the tacos tremendously, but it's been an hour since and my stomach is killing me. I don't know if it's from spoiled fish, but it was VERY seasoned masking any smell of spoiled fish. I warn anyone to keep this in mind. Social distancing, masks, and gloves are in effect. Service was good, the cashier was extremely hard to understand.
I have mixed feelings about this place. The restaurant is nice and clean. The customer service was so/so. They greeted me nicely but too much chatter with co workers instead of getting the orders out and completed so ppl can have there food. As for the taste of the food, it's missing FLAVOR!!! Big time! The food gotta taste memorable so that I don't want to go to any other taco spot but here , and I don't feel like that. Honestly I don't know what's so special about district tacos. The price u pay you didn't get a lot of food... I say that because I had a chicken bowl , with a little rice, little veggies, little bit of chicken added but a while lot of beans? The serving was really small. could've went to chipotle.... And The chips and queso is not good. I love a good queso... Well I can say the food was fresh.
