Restaurant bewertenWe had a wonderful Father's Day Dinner, the Rathskeller is one of my dad's favorite Indianapolis restaurants. We love the ambience and the decoration. We had great service and loved our food.
Many other reviewers were correct. Service, on the slow side but very nice and accurate people. Ambience, very nice place. Food: Appetizer: Spinach Artichoke dip was watery. Food was lukewarm at best. My filet was decent, but not the wife's meal.
The French onion soup was wonderful. My husband and I are doing a cross country road trip and wanted to try the German food on our stop in Indy. My husband had the oxtail soup and it was cold. The server brought him another bowl and it was barely warmed up. He chose not to eat it. We both got the jaegerschintzel. It comes drizzled in sour cream. That's not specified on the menu, and I can't eat sour cream, so they had to remake it for me. It wasn't a bad experience, it just wasn't great.
Beautiful building. Service was slow, waitress told us she didn't know we were there ??? We had plenty of time so we weren't rush, but having been told we were noticed? The main dish was excellent, the side dishes were a bit disappointing, but I wouldn't have wanted it the other way around. I have eaten here before, and it seems pretty much the same place, like visiting once in a while for special occasions.
I had never been here before and was not disappointed. The menu prices might look a little high at first for an entree, but considering it comes with soup/salad, two sides, and a pretzel to start it's a pretty good value.
