Restaurant bewertenBeen in a serious mood for Waffle House...like the craving is so strong LOL. So I decided to take my mother and dog for a ride. I was greeted when I walked in which I appreciated. The place wasn't packed or overcrowded at all. I was relieved as I am someone who doesn't do crowds. There were maybe 4 or so people inside eating. I chose to do takeout since I brought my little dog with me. I ordered the All Star Special which comes with 1 waffle of your choice, grits or hashbrowns, your choice of protein, eggs, toast. I think that is all. Pros no crowd, made fresh and hot, plenty of bacon for me, eggs cooked to perfection, good and friendly service Cons when did their prices increase?? Why are they charging a supply fee and a service fee? Sorry I don't have any pics, but I tore that food up! LOL. Next time I go, pics will be taken.
Never have cared for Waffle House! The food isn't that great from what I remember of it. I can't say about the service. It's been a good while. And as for the ambiance, not good, not good at all!
I won't lie I never heard of Waffle House until I moved down from Michigan, and let me tell you it's a wonderfully crazy, mixed bag. The servers are all super friendly (and quick as hell! and always get my food and order within 5 minutes (depends on how slammed they are of me stepping through the door. Management seems to also be very good, because I swear I hear praise from the staff at least 10 times every time I dine. The food is always amazing and hot, though depending on the busyness it could take upwards of 15 minutes to get my food. Now my second favorite part. The toppings. It may not say it on the menu but the toppings can be put on ANYTHING. Eggs? No problem. Steaks? No problem. You can become so creative and when those late night munchies kick in, oh boy is it a wonderful meal. Not to mention from the bar (arguably the best seat in the house you can watch the entire process of a diner. From the food being called out to the cook or cooks working in tandem to put your food on the grill, then to your plate. Now truly my favorite part of Waffle House, the atmosphere. Let me tell you the atmosphere of Waffle House at 2am and 10am is so incredibly different. If your going late morning to early afternoon be prepared for the hustle and bustle of servers dashing between tables and the frequent calling of orders it feels like the whole place is roaring and alive. But late night to early morning is an entirely different ball game. I prefer to go early morning on the weekdays just to miss a lot of the rowdy crowds that come with the weekends. It's normally a lot slower paced, and the managers and servers are far more laid back and relaxed. It creates this soft warm atmosphere and it's definitely far quieter. And if your like me you'll sit at the bar because of a few reasons. 1. If it's slow your cook and waitress will most likely try to spark a little conversation (always nice to have a chat 2. You can always count on overhearing some pretty juicy gossip 3. It's by far the warmest seat in the house (it gets cold in there at night! So honestly, in general Waffle House is pretty okay. But this one in particular just does everything right and more, every time.
The Waffle House chain has been around the Greensboro/Winston Salem are since the late 1960's. My friends and I used to hang out at the Randleman Rd. location late nights on the weekends when we were all in high school. (Southeast Guilford H. S. I'm 62 now and my husband and I still love Waffle House so you can imagine how tickled we were to find that one would be opening in our small town! It's been open a few years now on Hwy.158 (or Reidsville Rd as it's called about 7-8 minutes from our house. The best thing about Waffle House is the staff. You're always greeted as soon as you come in. Everyone is usually smiling, and the waitresses are as fast there as any I've ever seen. And I did some waitressing back in the day! No matter what time it is there's always something appealing on the WH menu. From the best coffee to anything you could want for breakfast with ridiculously low prices, then there are really good burgers and other sandwiches, Bert's Chili is a favorite, as are the best hashbrown's (I like mine smothered and covered anywhere, to their namesake, the Waffle. Plain, pecan, and chocolate chip varieties. Or try a plain waffle topped with strawberries and whipped cream. Incredible! You just cannot go wrong here! As soon as you've had a chance to taste things the grill cook is going to ask how your food is to make sure you're happy and I'll bet you are!
This is the best Waffle House around. We get to go from them about once a week. They're quick to answer the phone and courteous. Clean, mostly friendly, good food and fast!
