James Beach & Canal Club Restaurants

I call this marvelous place often since I enjoy the special air that is exist in this restaurant. The staff is very helpful and experienced. The service is certainly fast. Also, the food they prepare is good. I ate there more than once and I was always delighted. The payment is reasobable. I suggest this place to to everybody.

My husband and I immensely enjoyed our 4-course dinners last night. We had celebrated NYE at James Beach on two occasions in recent years, and had wonderful meals, great service and a great deal of fun, dancing and celebrating. I did not expect to have so delicious a dinner at home. We had a small incident. I ordered the lobster tacos, and when my husband brought home our order, mine was missing the lobster and beans. I called, and the gentleman who took my call was very apologetic, and asked if we wanted to come back. I hesitated, since there was so much food with the other courses and my husbands short ribs. I thought I might simply dig into his and have short-rib tacos, but my husband said he didn’t mind driving back. (We live in the Pacific Palisades Highlands, so it was a bit of a trek. Not only was the meal exceptional, but they were kind enough to make up for the error by sending an order of mac and cheese and a very nice bottle of champagne, along with the lobster and beans to complete my order. I very much appreciate their professionalism. Anyone can make a mistake, but not all will make up for it in so generous and professional way. The meal was exceptional. We will continue to support James Beach with further take-out orders until we can, one day, return to the restaurant to enjoy the fun, casual atmosphere and friendly, efficient service.

I really, really wanted to love this place. It was good but IMO doesn't warrant all the fuss. I had calamari, and they were good but not incredible, despite premium prices. Ditto for the cocktails: Good but basic and uninspired. I'd go back for another try. On the plus side, great atmosphere.

Much love for an excellent establishment. Been to long since I have been able to Frequent but one of the best watering holes in Venice.

Outdoor patio is well heated and staff is attentive. The sand bar was plenty for two people to share a light dinner together. Want to try the Thursday fry chicken special next time.
