Restaurant bewertenI would say that all the dishes were good but nothing blew my mind. Parking is hard.. Service is good.
Parking can be a challenge. There are number of restaurants on this street and parking is somewhat limited in the evening. We parked 1 ½ blocks away on Kingsway beside the park. We had a lovely evening at Les Faux bourgeois. The tables are nicely spaced apart and the candles on the table along with the soft background music create a wonderful welcoming feel. . We BYOB since we thought their wine prices were too high. There is a $30.00 corkage fee. Our server was Shelby and she was very good at answering our questions and describing different menu items to us. She brought us an ice bucket for our wine said the restaurant had featured the wine before. We asked to have a bit of a time interval between our courses and Shelby assured us that there would be no problem with this. We started off with Forestiere Tarte and it was delicious. It is puff pastry filled with a good mixture mushrooms, caramelized onion and goat cheese. It was so good. Shelby allowed a decent break before serving our entrees. My husband had Steelhead salmon, roasted brussels sprouts with hazelnuts and a brown butter vinaigrette. I had steak frites with tenderloin steak and peppercorn sauce. My husband’s salmon was cooked to perfection. The skin was crispy but the salmon itself was moist and flavourful. The Brussels sprouts were also very good. The sprouts were not overcooked and the hazelnuts were a great addition. They added so much to the dish. My steak was perfectly cooked as ordered and the peppercorn sauce was tasty. They served mayonnaise for the French fries. My only disappointment was the French fries. They were not crisp and they were cool. I like my fries crisp on the outside and hot on the inside. The meal was still very good and very good value for the money. It was a lovely evening. The service was very good. We really liked the ambiance and cozy feeling of the restaurant. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. We would highly recommend.
Arrived for the Birthday Celebration for our Niece’s 31st and the Bistro was packed except for the Reserved Tables. As it was our first time at the Bistro, we were greeted warmly by the Server. The Menu held a variety of interesting choices… We were served a basket of warm Baguette and we placed our order… French Onion Soup as a starter, Seared Tuna Salad with Greens. Onto Mussels, generously coated with butter and garlic, Escargot with biscuits . Then Duck with potatoes and mushrooms and accompanied with French Fries. Each dish was savored begging for more. We had expressed that upon Reserving a table, that it was our Niece’s 31st and they acknowledged they would make it a Special effort to place a Candle on a Dessert or? By the end of the meal..we waited for the Dessert/Candle but they did not comply as was told to me upon making the Reservation… To say the least, that was disappointing…we did express it was her Birthday twice… Hmmm
Restaurant was recommended to us by friends. We were taken aback by the location and the outside appearance of the restaurant: not what we had expected. There were no snooty French waiters which was only slightly disappointing. The service staff was courteous and attentive. The food was excellent. I must say that the moules marinieres were the best I have had outside of Belgium. The mussels were large, succulent and delicious and they had not been so over seasoned as to disguise their taste. The frites were excellent
Food and service were amazing. So good I'd consider moving closer just so I could visit this restaurant more often.
