Restaurant bewertenIt seemed like a big family restaurant. Everyone seemed to have fun, even me. When the pumpo leaves the bar, the bells ring!
At th suggestion of our taxi driver, we are happy we ate here. Staff were friendly and attentive. A must try beverage is the pompo not only for the flavour but for the presentation. Server in a hug that is made from a scooped out gourd, it is a mixture of pineapple juice, vodka, lime juice and mineral water. One jug holds 6 drinks. When one is ordered,a bell is rung in the middle of the restaurant and the waiter loudly and excitedly announces the arrival of your beverage. Gotta love it! We enjoyed an appetizer platter for two that was a taste of Chiapas. Smoked ham from San Cristobal, tostados from Tuxtla, double cream cheese, beef, rice and a yummy tamale. All very tasty. We decided to share the chicken mole with rice and the mole had a hint of heat. Delicious! Our meal was finished with coconut ice cream and coffee. Entertainment started at 8:30pm with traditional dancing and marimba music. Thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful costumes and the efforts of the dancers. Two gentleman playing the marimba did an outstanding job. All in all, if you want to taste, hear and see Chiapas, you found it.
