Restaurant bewertenWe went a group of 11. Everything is freshly cooked in the buffet. There is quite a variety. There is a container of maple syrup in the table and they replenish it as needed. The crispy bacon at the beginning is delicious. The cretons are just like my maman made them. For dessert, the pouding au chômeur is excellent. Everyone said that the crepes with apple were delicious. As you walk out, they offer you tire on the snow. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Service was great. It was a Friday evening so there was no entertainment and we were fine with that. Well done!
Whether you are two or twenty, Sucrerie des Gallant is such a great experience. Weekends are filled with extra entertainment but going during the week was relaxed. The food was abundant and sooooo delicious, where you can lace everything with maple syrup. From pea soup with baconstrips and buns to main dishes of tourtiere, meat balls, sausages, ham, omelets, potatoes, many salads and condiments, and then to no less than 6 dessert choices, including to die-for apple-stuffed crepes and tarte au sucre a l'erable! All this topped of with taffy on the snow! Heaven! Service was excellent, warm and very attentive! Bravo!
The thing I enjoyed most about this place, it was small and quiet. Didn't have your typical LOUD cabin de Sucre vibe. Food was decent, and plenty of pork to go around. Enjoyed it was Buffet and not family style. The maple syrup on the stick was the best part at the end.
Nice atmosphere, good service, but the food could have been tastier. The eggs did not look fresh, the beans were undercooked (hard). The potatoes and ham were good. Pudding chomeur was good as well. My sister in law enjoyed to banana bread pudding.La tire was excellent and we could have more than one.
This is not the first time we eat at the Sucrerie, we are glad we did not pay full price as it was part of a corporate event. Being of French Canadian descent I can affirm the food has nothing to do with the traditional sugar shack we are used to. The ham was dry, the tourtière had a funny taste so was the coldslaw, the mashed potatoes were too salty. Looks they put some odd spices which have nothing to do at a sugar shack (you do not want to spoiled the maple syrup taste). However on a very positive note, the pea soup was excellent and traditional, the sugar pie is to die for. The personnel is very helpful and friendly.
