Restaurant bewertenThis restaurant has the best position on the port with a high balcony overlooking the bay. We had some of the best fish of our trip, whole sea bass and dorata and it was beautifully cooked. The selection of desserts is stunning, making it very difficult to choose, and the staff were very friendly and efficient. This is also a Buon Ricordo restaurant, so if you order the local speciality, you get a beautiful plate as a memento although the price is built in to the dish, but not exorbitantly so. It's not cheap, but the quality is high and we were happy to pay over €100 for the full catastrophe for two, including 3 courses, wine, bread, coffee and digestivo. Highly recommended.
Not worth it! There are nicer restaurants near by. Food was terrible, poor service. No vale la pena! La comida es horrible, parece calentada en el microondas. Hay lugares mucho mejores.
Walking down to the port we caught a glimpse through the back door of a kitchen. Grandmother sitting in a chair, overseeing matters but in crisp kitchen whites. Immediate recognition of something special and very serious. The outlook over the water was spectacular, the room, very, old school elegant, and slightly dishevelled Italian. Booked a table for an hour hence and went down to the very touristy port for an early beer and some spectacularly bad service. Sauntered up the hill to take our beautiful table overlooking the harbour. Three generations of family providing service and food. I ordered a bottle of Antinori Chianti that I knew well. At 22 euros, almost disturbingly well priced and served by the perhaps 70 year old brother. Perfectly decanted and served in large Riedel crystal. It looked fairly “dusty” Asked the year 2003! for a 15 year old excellent Chianti! Things were definitely looking cheerful. The captain ordered an excellent mix of fish, myself, a fabulous sea bass, swimming in extraordinary broth, and the odd errant potato slice. Milady, possibly the best ravioli I have ever tasted a combination of clam ragu, ricotta and other monstrosities. It was truly wonderful. Le chef du Cabine had a sole which I neglected to taste but reports gave it high marks. The music, and generally I hate music in restaurants, finding it invasive, was sublime. Soft Bach piano pieces and some quietly played Italian small chamber ensemble music. I will remember this night. It was not cheap. In fact it was very expensive but it was an unforgettable experience. If ever you have the opporunity to eat here there will be no regrets. 9.5/10
Every summer I do my best to dine at Za Mariuccia. I like the food, the place , the view and the atmosphere. Is a little bit expensive but is the place to go in Maratea. On the port, with a nice terrace, the restaurant offers exceptional seafood very well cooked and presented. Also dessert are delicious. The service is very accurate. Very good choice of wines.
Here's my takeaway from this experience we had a 1989 Solaia. And it was fabulous! the view is gorgeous, The food was good and the service attentive. I would happily recommend this place to anyone.
