The Courtyard - TOWNSVILLE CITY

This restaurant could be a 5* place in Townsville if the staff actually had some enthusiasm for service. Good décor, reasonable menu, food was very average, pricing was acceptable.Don't know whether it was just that it was Thursday night or what, but the young guy and girl really need a course in customer service desperately. My meal was tossed onto the bar in front of me, really! Obviously poor training and guidance by management at this establishment. I will mention that this was my second visit on the night, as I stopped to ask if they accepted Amex (yes) earlier. The young guy didn't even acknowledge me firstly, then said, I'll be a minute then walked off, not to return for many minutes.They'll have another chance on my next visit, but that will be the last if the service is rubbish.

Suddenly confronted by hungry mutinous children we decided on the Courtyard purely because it offered board games. We weren't disappointed sampling chips and gravy and chocolate sauced churros as well as ordering an iced coffee and other drinks. Kids cheered right up and we were able to get on with our afternoon in plenty of time.

Can't go past cheap taco Tuesday they are basic but really tasty so if your after a cheap tasty eat be sure to check it out

Thursday night special beer and shnitzel extremely cheap yet massive size and beer options werr great. The service was great especially at the bar. Love the design of the place, funky and modern atmosphere

Dropped in for lunch we had a crispy chicken burger and a chilli burger both came with chips I mean fries. Both tasted OK not magnificent. My companion's chicken and bacon wee black from the grill and had a funky smell but she survived. My burger was ok.- a nice substantial beef pattie. I have heard stories of generally substandard customer service in Townsville compared to say, Cairns. The Courtyard although fine did not do anything to disprove this. Maybe the Saturday morning hangovers are an excuse. Anywho it;s worth a try as service was efficient. A nice space but we will try across the lane next visit.
