Restaurant bewertenWe really wanted to like Piccolo Ponte because we wanted to find a higher-end Italian restaurant. And it looked promising. Nice space, upstairs, well lit, attractive, and clean. The service is quick and attentive and very polite. The menu has all the good choices. Generous portions. Fried calamari was competent, with a fresh-tasting marinara. But otherwise, the food was disappointing. Nothing really -wrong- with it--good ingredients, pasta cooked to prefect doneness, as was everything else; but where's the flavor? Everything we had was strangely bland. Part of the reason was that it was undersalted but it was also not well flavored. If herbs were used, it was just a sprinkle. The piccata should be bright, lemony, buttery, with briny capers. It had none of that and the chicken was fried but not at all crispy. Vodka penne had a lot of cream-tomato sauce but it didn't taste much of cream or tomato. The stuffed filet of sole was generous and gorgeous but tasted like it could have been tilapia and the clam stuffing was not very clam-y. The roasted garlic potatoes were more baked than roasted. The spinach was pretty good: bright, fresh, cooked well and swimming in sauce. I punched up the leftovers at home the next day, adding herbs, salt, pepper, and it was much better. But we were sorry the preparation did not do justice to the ingredients and the rest of the experience.
Great service, great food. Suprised that two people had poor experiences here, but not everyone is perfect.Came with a party of 4 for my girlfriends birthday, and we all loved the food. Im italian, so I am a harsh critic. I will definitely be returning.
I will revisit this place again. Me and my buds came in to have some nice pasta and calamari and it turned out to be so good! The portions are big and the prices are quite small, we had to take some home because we ordered plenty! The good looking server/bar tender lady was very nice and she works hard! The kitchen is quite small and the preparation time takes slightly longer than usual but the food comes out to be nothing like a bland homemade meal or a overly complicated fancy restaurant food. The food there is perfect. 5/5 will come again and have one of your canolis!
Excellent food, we came up form Lakawaxen for dinner we weren't disappointed. Pasta was plentiful, my wife had sauteed shrimp and penne, I had spaghetti Bolognese which was slightly spicy delicious. If you're looking for a quick in out watch out, we were here almost 2 hours, the waitress was very friendly and them owner made contact with every table as they got up to leaveGreat experience.
Called ahead around 4:30 pm on Saturday to see if we needed a reservation and the woman on the phone said we didn't. We arrived around 7pm and the place was completely empty and closed. Would have been nice for them to give a heads up if they were about to close. Online hours are not accurate!
