Restaurant bewertenWe tried the soft serve it was really good. There's only outdoor seating two tables. Also got the roasted chestnuts takes a bit but is worth it!
I've been to this plaza a couple times, but never knew about this place. At first I thought it was strange to have a food spot dedicated to roasted chestnuts. It just seemed so abstract and foreign to me. But I'm glad to have given it a chance. For those that don't know this place serves as a dessert/snack place. Similar to how pistachios have been relegated to delicious desserts, it's nice to know another nut could be added. Together, we had 3 different things: Fuji mountain Strawberry, Chestnut purée cake, and Vanilla and chestnut cone. The Fuji mountain strawberry was pretty good. It tasted like any other soft serve with strawberries. The added chestnut flavor did serve to complement the soft serve, but it didn't enhance it to the point where it would make or break it. That's probably due to vanilla with strawberries being solid in its own right. The chestnut purée cake was pretty unique as I've never had something like that before. If you want a stronger chestnut flavor, this is definitely the one to get to see if you like chestnuts.Lastly the vanilla and chestnut cone is the simplest in terms flavor complexity. The chestnuts are hinted in the vanilla and complements it pretty well. If you're curious for an Asian dessert out of the ordinary, look no further!
Really cute place! It's small inside with no seating area (tatami area is blocked off). We got the Mount Fuji and the Kyoto/tianjin chestnuts. Very delicious and I would actually just come back for the chestnuts itself. It looks like a family owned business as well and is located in an asian centered plaza with abundant parking.
The good:I tried the matcha mountain soft serve ice cream with candied chestnuts, chestnut tiramisu and yuzu donut. I loved all of the traditional Japanese flavors and the authentic Japanese interior decor. There was a fun wall of post-it notes and photos. The service was prompt. The soft serve had a crunchy cookie that was very yummy and not at all hard. It also came with a small piece of matcha waffle cone. The portion size wasn't too big. The prices were fair. The yuzu donut had the bitter bite of the yuzu fruit and some small chunks of actual fruit as well. The bad:There is no indoor nor outdoor seating. It's mostly a to-go place. The yuzu donut is more like a cake. My husband liked it more than I did. The ice cream was vanilla with a matcha syrup on top. It would've been nice to have matcha soft serve as well. The tiramisu was nice but was just okay for tiramisu standards. The interesting:Inside, there's a sectioned off tatami mat table area but it's for viewing only. This place is located in a plaza with lots of other Japanese businesses.
This looks like a cute mom and pop store that specializes in chestnuts. The employees were very sweet and helped to suggest items. While I didn't get to try any of their roasted chestnut, I did try their chestnut cake and chestnut coffee (hot and cold). The chestnut cake was warm when she gave it to me and the cake was springy and inside was sweet and thick. Chestnut Lattes 5/5: hot and cold were both very good. They were made to order. While the cold was good, we felt like the hot one had a more roasted nutty flavor.
