Restaurant bewertenSan Salvario next to Torinos central station used to be a rundown area. Now when hipster have moved in it's different. Lots of trendy bars and restaurants. Still you sense the smell from overfilled garbage cans but don't bother, it's worth a visit. We went to La Malandrina and had great dinner with pasta. And the staff was very friendly.
If you never tried it you surely must. Especially liked the Pizza Martina, in fact went twice to eat the same. The cook is fantastic and very friendly, nice service. My wife liked the pasta dish with tomato sauce and meatballs. All round strong recommendation and very reasonable prices, nice staff!
Nice atmosphere food was ok but i have some doubts on the quality of the food and strange menu as well. In general was ok as cenone di capodanno but 70 euro is too expensive. The wine was very bad and also the champagne. I liked the atmosphere but i still don't understand why one of the chef was going out the kitchen and somehow being very rude to some table while the most experienced waiter tried to calm down some of the customers. My arancino in the antipasto was cold. If they would have accepted less people it would have been better for everybody.
On my way to another destination, I stopped off here for a quick aperitif and I couldn 't be more glad I did. The Aperol Spritz was the best I have had in Turin and the beautiful staff were amazing bringing me small samples of traditional cuisine and urging me to 'tranquile ' (calm down), as I am very prone to nerves. The prices were very reasonable and the setting (in the marque on the street), was perfect for watching the locals go about their lives.
Lo zio is a nice restaurant. The chef put a lot of attention in the choice of the ingredients and they bake their own bread. The octopus salad with Friselle is wonderful. The waitress is a bit clumsy but in a sweet way (she is also extremely nice). The only flaw was the room temperature, far too cold for a restaurant (but this can be easily fixed).
