Restaurant bewertenOrdered chicken and chips. Was warned it would take 30 mins which was fine as I thought it would be lovingly cooked and presented in that time. It took 50 mins and was very average, tough, and definitely not cooked slowly. I like the hotel but will NEVER eat here again. Food: 2/5 Service: 2/5 Atmosphere: 1/5
We came for lunch and had a Carvery this is our opinion and the table next to us also agreed , the beef was raw ,red and blooded in the middle the roast potatoes was under cooked and hard , the gravy was thin and tasteless the apple pie was bland , and the soup wasn’t seasoned we didn’t enjoy our meal at all the best thing was the bread rolls , the food need improvement we wont be coming here again
We went to their Sunday Carvery yesterday and the staff were excellent, no complaints there. However, the roast potatoes were undercooked and lacked color, and the vegetables were similarly undercooked and bland. The roasted vegetables had no flavor and the beef was tough with limited options. I would not return to this restaurant.
We hadn't visited this restaurant since before the first lockdown, but we heard that they have revamped their restaurant and menu, so we decided to give it a try... and we are so happy we did! The food was excellent, as was the service. While the main menu looked delicious, we opted for the specials menu and the stuffed chicken was the best we've ever had! The tart starters were delightful, as was the panna cotta (recommended by our server, Katie), but the chicken was our favorite. The young staff, Ben and Lucia, were polite and efficient. We are local and will definitely be returning!
We used to come to this restaurant regularly. It was good food and a lovely ambience. Sadly neither is now true. My husband and I had booked for the restaurant, only to find we were placed slap bang in the middle of a coach party who had all arrived shortly before we did. The coach party were of course enjoying themselves with loud laughter and were very dressed down as of course is often the case with coach parties. My husband and I felt totally overdressed. We had to wait half an hour for our starter after my husband pointed out we were still waiting. We also had to ask for rolls, as they had not offered us any when we arrived. I 'd like to say when the food arrived it was worth the wait it wasn 't. I had the pate it was no more than ok. My husband 's Caesar salad too ok. Then he had a pie and I had a steak with chips no vegetables came with it, I had to order and pay for vegetables to go with it. I was not given a steak knife and tried to cut the steak with the cutlery provided in vain, my husband had to track down a waiter to ask for a steak knife. However, as the steak was as tough as old boots, it only marginally helped. The chips were ok but I expected better in a restaurant that describes itself as one of the best restaurants in Chatham . I had to leave half of my steak and chips, the steak was close to inedible. We gave up on desserts. When my husband pointed out to staff that we had not had a good experience, he was told that the restaurant has coach parties most days so it is always busy. If he had been warned when he booked that we were booking at the same time as a large coach party, we could have decided whether or not to go ahead with the booking although to be honest, the food was so mediocre that there is nothing that would tempt me to return. So ambience nil, food probably 1 out of 10, and general experience poor. Such a shame, this used to be a very nice restaurant.
