Restaurant bewertenWhat a lovely afternoon tea we had. I took my Mum there for a treat and I must say it was lovely. The sandwiches were lovely and fresh. The scones were delicious. There was just the right amount of food, I also liked the fact we were asked what cakes we would like, so there was no waste and we was given a box to take the leftovers home. I will definitely be returning as the owner made us feel very welcome and I will also recommend me this to friends.
My 2 daughters, mother and I make it a yearly occasion to have Afternoon Tea at a different place. We had spotted this tea room on passing and thought we must try. I'm sorry to say we were so disappointed. On arrival the lady in charge seemed very nice and said we could choose a table. There was only one table taken by three ladies so we chose the table in the window. The table was bare other than a table cloth and a sugar bowl. The lady came to us and asked if we wanted tea or coffee, we opted for tea. She came back with a stack of mismatched saucers, cups, plates and cutlery and left them in the middle of the table for us to sort. She then brought 2 teapots over and milk. The tea was awful, weak and watery. My mum had to ask for it to be stronger. We received 1 cake stand with very plain sandwiches, cheese, ham egg. Scones (shop bought) a small amount of cream jam for 4 people (no butter) and a large slice of cake of our choice. I know the tea room is vintage but it didn't seem very hygienic and even the waitress didn't seem very presentable. To sum it up, at £64 for 4 we felt very cheated and disappointed. We left feeling very deflated. Sorry but we will not be returning.
We had a great time at the restaurant enjoying our afternoon tea served by the charming Kerry. The place is small and cozy, beautifully decorated with vintage items. There are so many things to see that you'll need to visit again to take it all in! I will definitely be returning and would highly recommend a visit to this lovely spot.
I have enjoyed afternoon tea at this restaurant multiple times and have found it delightful each time. The cakes are beautiful and delicious. The service is excellent. I will definitely be making another reservation once we are able to go out again.
For part of my wife’s week of birthday treats I booked afternoon tea here. On arrival the owner was away at a local shop to get some bread as she had run out, no problem here. Just after we walked in we were followed by customers who had come in to collect takeaways, which they had to wait about twenty minutes for as they hadn’t been prepared. My wife opted for the menu advertised afternoon tea while I decided to have a ploughman’s. Our food was served almost thirty minutes after we had arrived. The afternoon tea consisted of six quarter sandwiches, two plain cheese, two plain ham and two tuna in place of the advertised egg sandwich, one scone with cream, a slice of cake and a small bowl of crisps which appeared to have a tuna flavour about them and no sausage roll. My ploughman’s was very nice but we were very disappointed with the set afternoon tea. The owner was very pleasant but indicated that she had problems that day and we heard her telling another party that she had run out of several foods. So at £24.95 for our food we didn’t consider it value for money and certainly not the experience we had hoped for.
