Restaurant bewertenHappened to stumble on this place on accident and it luckily was a Tuesday so they had buy 3 get 1 free tacos. Normally they're 3 for $7 so it was such a steal! They were super yummy will definitely be going back!
A friendly, clean and bright small restaurant in a strip-mall. Food, including the totopos, is average or below, presentation is somewhat unattractive. One menu item, however, is outstanding: The guac. Price higher than expected. The building is own by the church, therefore they don't sell beer or other alcohol.
Ordered a shrimp fajita plate and as I was eating, I noticed several pieces of beef in it. When I asked the waiter why there was beef in my dish, he started to awkwardly giggle. I then told him that I can only eat seafood and he said that everything grilled is cooked on the same grill in the same spot. I told him I was vegetarian/pescatarian and that I can not eat beef due to religious reasons. He then told me that he also didn't eat meat and we awkwardly stared at each other while he continued to giggle (I was so confused). A few minutes later, my friend found a hair in her salsa. I would stay away from this place unless you want to find random stuff in your food or hair in your salsa
This place was recommended by a co-worker that had caught dinner at the truck a few times when she was passing though town. We visited the restaurant on a slow Sunday afternoon and it will now be our regular stop. I had the the steak quesadilla platter and my husband had the tacos. The food was fresh, fast and delicious. The service was great too. We pass through Tazwell almost weekly and I'm already looking forward to next week.
This taco place is unmatched. I’ve been here a few times after church, and they always have stellar tacos, authentic mexican and great service. The workers are all super friendly and fun which is nice when you go out to eat because I don’t know if it’s true for all of you, but eating somewhere where it looks like everyone involved hates their lives really puts a damper on the vibe even if they do serve a killer queso blanco. So its really nice that the environment at gatos tacos is always light hearted and upbeat. My spanish teacher even mentioned frequenting gatos tacos a few years back because it was the best mexican he could get in the area, so if you don’t want to take my word for it you can take his. I definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area; I’d almost recommend stopping by even if you weren’t in the area. It’s definitely worth it.
