Restaurant bewertenCame here with a group of friends and was very disappointed. I understand it’s a small, rural pub but I come from a rural area and completely understand some things may take longer when food and drink is served fresh but this was a bit ridiculous. Food came out very slowly and those served first waited at least 20 minutes for sauces whilst the other food came out. I really do think that when you know a large party is coming in water and sauces should be on the table as standard and you shouldn’t have to ask for it. The sticky toffee pudding when it came was cold and I notice that this is on several other reviews as well. Disappointing as sticky toffee was a favourite for many of the group. The cheddar on the cheese board was a thin shaving so we had to ask for more. Now I’m not one to over indulge and although the food tasted nice the servings are very small (especially for the price) and all of us had to go back home and have some snacks. I notice that small portions are on other reviews as well. Main lady over seeing things was rude and had a bit of an attitude about her which let the place down. The young lad who was serving us drinks was nice, helpful and smiley but was clearly under pressure. I would not recommend going here as a large group.
Lovely little place but 2nd time in row the portions not make sense. 5! people get the same amount of vegetables and cauliflour cheese as a table of 2! And so we asked for a new set of vegetables and got some brocoli about 20 mins after we finished our roast dinner. So one of our group ordered a second roast dinner as he was so hungry and didn't get his vegetables a until 15 mins after he ate that dinner and that portion of vegetables was the same size as per served for 5 original dinners! We thought it was a fluke on mother's day as short of food but this time thet were not busy.it would not be so bad if they could get timing right but when you ask for more vegetables your looked at as if you are an alien! So if you like tasty food but only want 3 small potatoes and enough vegetables for a small rabbit then this is an ideal place for you.
10 cyclist turned up for a spontaneous pit stop at approximately 12.30 on a Saturday, pub was extremely busy with more arriving. We were warmly greeted and the pub were very accommodating with providing teas/coffees and a selection of sandwiches with all the trimmings, salad, chips and coleslaw all of which were excellent in quality and quantity. Well worth the 5 stars.
We booked a large table with many weeks notice as we were staying nearby celebrating my 60th birthday with all my family.
This is the Third time I've visited The Rising Sun and Everytime I've had a wonderful experience. This time was just myself and my boyfriend having a belated Valentine's date (he was away with family funeral on the 14th Feb).We was highly welcomed by the team, and nothing was a problem.
