After that, I found a cozy spot in one of the back dining rooms, set up my laptop, connected to the Wi-Fi, and got to work on my Yelp reviews. It was perfect. Later, I tried a bagel sandwich that was simply amazing. I’m not sure what they call it, but it had egg, cheese, ham, and ketchup on an everything bagel. It required three napkins, but it was so delicious. I ended up spending six hours at Recess, and no one seemed to mind since it never quite reached full capacity. Overall, I had a great and productive day, and I’ll definitely keep this place on my list for future trips to Syracuse. [Review 1544 of 2024, 460 in New York, 22,567 overall]
The coffee here is more than just a drink; it’s a craft, a ritual, and a passion that shines through in every sip. The baristas, always friendly and skilled, personalize each customer’s experience, making it truly memorable. The cafe's ambiance strikes a beautiful balance between modern elegance and cozy warmth, making it an ideal place for a range of social gatherings, from casual coffee dates to intimate catch-ups with old friends. The menu is diverse, catering to various tastes and dietary preferences, ensuring every guest leaves satisfied. The pastries are fresh, the sandwiches hearty, and the salads crisp, but it is the coffee that really shines. Sourced from the finest beans and roasted to perfection, each batch delivers the deep, complex flavors that characterize the cafe's signature blends. Regular customers often commend the cafe's consistent quality and service, reflecting the dedication of the staff and the management's commitment to excellence. Whether it's the first light of dawn or the leisurely afternoon hours, the cafe serves as a refuge for those seeking comfort and inspiration in a cup of coffee. It’s no surprise that many consider it the best coffee in Syracuse—a title the cafe holds with pride. In a fast-paced world, this cafe serves as a reminder of life’s simple pleasures: a good meal, an exceptional cup of coffee, and the joy of good company.
The coffee had a wonderful flavor, with perfectly roasted beans that offered an excellent profile. I'm giving it four stars because it's been a while since my last visit, so I can't provide the most accurate details. I recall the service being very friendly, and I remember buying a t-shirt. If I'm not mistaken, the restaurant is situated inside a house?
Cool, hip, funky coffee shop. My Cappuccino was solid, perfect strength and temperature. The establishment was ideal for seating and enjoying a cup of Joe.. great for students, or while on business. The parking was a bit of a mystery. I parked out front because the back of the store only had a couple of spots and had a sign that read for residents only . After reading some of the reviews from other Yelpers, I there 's a lot across the street. Wasn 't sure I could park across there at first, now I know better next time. Certainly would recommend and try again during a visit to Syracuse. Might hang out a little and get some work done, place felt cozy and welcoming.
This is a cute spot that has a coffee shop feel that seems to have mostly disappeared. I would love more seating, as there are few options for people who are there to chat rather than work or study. The counter isn't in the best spot or the most intuitive layout for something that might get busy but they are very clearly working with what they can do with a converted house. The folks behind the counter were helpful. My rating mostly rests on the fact that I really don't like the coffee they serve. It seems to rely on being in with a syrup of some kind and feels over-pulled even when it clearly isn't. After two failures on coffee, I finally ordered a chai, as this is one of the few coffee shops in the area open past 6pm. It was a relatively solid chai for a coffeehouse, so that's my recommendation if you need somewhere to meet with folks after 6pm. Otherwise, I'd visit another coffee shop in the city for coffee itself. Cute Westcott location, too!
