Restaurant bewertenIt was a bit of a disappointment! Some of the staff (not all) we're not up to standards. Some of the staff lacked people skills. Our entire was a meat board which was really nice. On the other hand we ordered our mains which was the duck breast and rump steak. The meats were really good quality but were cooked very well done when we specifically ordered for them to be cooked medium. We then ordered dessert ( mousse and Mont Blanc) which were pretty good. It was not worth the price we paid!
My husband and I arrived at 8:30pm and was greeted by a cheerful member of staff and offered us a nice table. I expected the main restaurant at Sofitel to be more high end since it is within a 5* hotel, but it is actually quite casual with no dress code. We ordered half a dozen of oysters to share, for mains we had duck breast and tenderloin from the grill. No meal is complete without dessert, I came here for the soufflé however they changed the menu and no longer offers it, so we ordered Mont Blanc. Amuse bouche - Salmon tartare Rating: 6/10 Comments: Good flavour, but temperature not cold enough, hope the raw salmon has not been sitting in room temperature. Oysters - Pacific Rocks $25 Rating: 6/10 Comments: oysters lost moisture and surface turned matte, which had lost its shiny fresh look, obviously not freshly shucked. Still have strong flavour, again not cold enough. Mains - Duck breast $40 Rating: 8/10 Comments: best dish of the night. Crispy skin with moist and tender meat. Mains - Beef Tenderloin with Béarnaise sauce and sautéed mixed mushrooms $45 Rating: 3/10 Comments: most expensive item on the menu but worst dish of the night. The beef tenderloin was dry and tough, béarnaise sauce had a stingy sour taste due to too much acid, had to change to mushroom sauce. Mushroom sauce was made in a hurry and tasted alcoholic because not enough heat and time was left to burn off the alcohol. Dessert - Mont blanc $16 Rating: 6/10 Comments: interesting plating of decomposed Mont Blanc with bits of meringue. The sweetness was just right, and good dry crispy meringues added texture to the whole dessert. The meal was $140 for 2 without drinks.
Lovely restaurant located inside the Sofitel offering a delicious menu. The customer service is highly attentive and it definitely does now feel like your dining inside a hotel. I highly recommend the duck confit and the signature sharing board.
Garden court restaurant screams luxury as soon as you step out the elevator and cruise into the restaurant. Greeted by beautiful friendly staff, I knew we were in for a phenomenal dining experience. Kicking off with a pumpkin and orange amuse-bouche, our waitress Ashleigh advised us that the chef is always trying new and unique soups, this one was a bit too citrusy for me, but the flavour combo packed serious punch. Next up was the signature sharing board, I'm a sucker for charcuterie, and the grilled vegetables complimented the meats in the most wonderful way. For mains, my mouth was having a pasta party, the Pappadelle Pasta will cause death by deliciousness. I wish I asked for extra olives because I was eyeing out each and everyone and seeing how I could secretly push it onto my plate instead of Sweetandyummie's. Yum! Although fairly quiet (ambience was relaxed and romantic but it was a bit empty!) we had a great dinner here. Ordered a beautiful bottle of Clare Valley Riesling and the fresh bread ???????? Mains of fish (snapper and salmon) plus duck fat fried and salad. The dessert was panacotta. All the good was incredible. Only complaint is that the waiter was new and made quite a few mistakes with orders - this was fixed though. The piano bar afterwards was a highlight! A great entertainer!
