Restaurant bewertenWe decided to try dining at the Summerland Yacht Club after viewing the menus on our sunday walk. The prices looked reasonable but sometimes you think "Oh its likely a pub food place". Well 16 of us walked in and had a coffee and it tasted good so then we thought lets order food. Well I tell you the Chef prepared all our entries to perfection. From appies, steaks, seafoods, salads and a strudel ice cream desert. Our server "Treass" was lots of fun kept us entertained while waiting for our food. The Chef even came out and chatted and bought us all a drink of our choice. This gentleman and his kitchen crew were great. Will we be back to this hidden gem? You bet we will and will bring more friends to enjoy great food and friendly service. Come try it!
This place is probably the best dining option in Summerland. It's nicely located at the Summerland Yacht Club. It's very casual, with both patio or indoor seating. Inside though, it doesn't resemble a restaurant. It looks like an empty banquet room with maybe 2 small tables and a big screen tv. The better option is to sit outside, especially if it's a nice evening. The menu is basically a hand full of appetizers, 3 entrées and 3 desserts written on a chalk board, which leads me to believe that the menu changes daily. All entrées were really well priced at $16 each.I choose the Parisian Steak with vegetables and roasted potatoes. It came sliced and cooked perfectly medium as ordered, with a dollop of garlic butter on top. It may not have been the best cut of steak, but the flavour was very good. The carrots avoided being your typical side, by not being over cooked and by being coated with a nice sauce. The asparagus and roasted potatoes were also well cooked and tasty. I had the house made apple strudel with ice cream and blue berries for dessert. This could have been better. The strudel was cold and should have been warmed up to compliment the cold ice cream. Also, the blueberries didn't make a good combination with the apple strudel. It was a very average tasting dessert. Being that the entrées were so well priced at $16, the dessert would have been better priced at around $5, not the $7 they charged. Perhaps if the dessert was exceptional, then the price would be warranted. Dessert aside, I still feel this place is very well worth dining at. Very good quality and price with decent service. I would most definitely eat here again.
Dropped in on a random Saturday to find it was a buffet. We thought we had walked in to a private function but we'were told we could join in for a per person ticket. The cost was reasonable and the food was quite good. The atmosphere was off, lots of intoxicated loud happy people. Good music started after dinner. Unfortunately there was a lack of all entree choices when we got to the buffet, so I had the last bit of roast, though we had been told it was salmon and that. Lots of sides. Dessert was disorganized, ice cream and fresh fruit which was pleasantly offered twice.
Chef Mark & the SYC were gracious to host our yearly dinner auction funraiser...A total success...I hope we are able to use this venue next year...
We normally stay at the Summerland Waterfront Resort and while there, go over to the yacht club for a dinner. The food is good and is a good value. Unfortunately, we made the mistake of going over the day of their Giant Head Regatta. We were going to go somewhere else but we're told it was a buffet for $20/person with choice of salmon or roast beef and was open to the public. When paying for the buffet at the beginning and asking about drinks, someone said they would bring us water. He was told it was self serve only. The buffet food was average and there was no salmon. They gave you 2 small slices of beef about 2 ounces total. Service was non existent this night. Had to deal with loud, drunken members and regatta participants, no service and overpriced buffet has changed my mind about this place. Maybe it was a bad night to go since it was mostly catered to the regatta crowd, but they shouldn't open it to the public and then ignore them. We might give them another chance again since we has good experiences before, but this time was a bad experience.
