Restaurant bewertenNew owner and a pivot to a new direction--bagels. Becca Gordon bought this shop in November 2020. She's done a good job of deep cleaning and making the change. The bagels are NY style with a chewy texture--not the bread masquerading as a bagel that you usually see in grocery stores. And Becca does a great job with these bagels. I tried plain, everything, and jalapeño and pepper jack varieties. They were all great. In fact, these are better bagels than the other (much larger) bagel producer in the region, Blazing Bagels. I've only had bagels this good in NY or from my own kitchen. I would normally have given four stars instead of five, but this is basically a new business that deserves your support. The things that would have had me giving four stars are a lack of display cases and the fact that you can only get three bagels (pre-bagged because of COVID-19) of the same flavor. You can't get one bagel or a bag of assorted flavors. She also has no schmears available--not even the little factory packaged serving size packets; and this is a huge oversight. I think Becca will fix these issues soon--she's just barely taken over the shop and opened it as of 24 November 2020. This store is the retail location for I Can't Believe it's Vegan wholesale bakery, which supplies coffee shops and some gas stations throughout the region with baked goods. Becca owns that too. It's a great addition to the community that deserved support. It's a wonderful place for those passing through on their way to or from the mountains to stop and grab some great bagels and other baked goods (baked goods selection varies daily).
This is basically a commercial baker with a small storefront and eating area. Most of the their revenue comes from the commercial business, and it shows. The seating area is small, crowded, not well maintained, and in an inconvenient (in the way) location in the storefront. Not very appealing at all. If you want to eat in house, you 'll get something from the display cabinet. Those items are thawed. If you want to go, you 'll get frozen versions of whatever you order. You see, they freeze everything they bake immediately so they can deliver to their commercial customers. Walk in customers are simply an afterthought. The food is okay. The cookies are dense, dense, dense. The flavors are decent, but not wow great. Nothing to write home about. The scones are large, but the texture borders on bread instead of scone. Clearly, it 's a scone and not bread. But the scones lack the typical and crumbly scone texture. They don 't feel elevated but much more like someone 's early tries at making scones. They do have gluten free versions of many of their products, so that 's good. Also, all baked goods are vegan (which is an interesting fact, when you think about baked goods). Maybe making everything vegan has compromised quality. Something certainly has. Honestly, I am not impressed with this place as a place for consumers. If you 're a commercial location needing baked goods, then perhaps this place is for you. But there are probably better choices out there for that too. I 'll pass in the future.
Excellent costumer service, what I love about this place is the coffee, scones and the muffins; especially the poppy seed with almond.
This place has amazing scones and cinnamon rolls. However I 'm not impressed with the customer service. I 've walked in twice now and sat there ringing the bell, shouting hello? Because I know there are people talking in the back. 5 minutes plus of just waiting to be helped. One women with blonde hair is always super sweet though. Otherwise, the rest of the employees act like you 're interrupting them and make you feel like a burden.
I live in Sultan and decided to try them out. First time I went I could hear people in the back but no one came out to help me, so after 5 minutes I left. Ok I thought, just a bad time so I tried it again...got a scone and it rocked. Decided to come back later in the week for their scratch and dent sale...went in, rang the bell, no one around again but I could hear people. Then I saw an employee and we made eye contact but she just walked by, she did this a couple of times. Still no one came out to help me. After 5 minutes I walked out. Hmmm 2 out of 3 times no help?! Not good odds. Perhaps if you can catch them you will enjoy a lovely baked good but good luck on actually being served.
