Salem's Fresh Eats - St. Petersburg

This place is amazing! The fried chicken gizzards are delicious and have the perfect texture and consistency. The hot sauce at Salems is great because it's made with a Cayenne base. The portions of the bowls are huge, and my husband and I shared the gyro bowl which was pretty good, although it had really hot peppers so make sure to ask for them on the side if you're not into spice. The food and service are top-notch, especially for what you might consider fast food, but it's really restaurant quality and made fresh to order, so no heat lamps or stale fries. The only downside is the confusing drive-thru setup, as some people enter the line before ordering or miss it completely and have to do a U-turn. Overall, it's a great place with a wide selection and reasonable prices.

I must start by saying that I am originally from St. Petersburg, but I have spent many years living in Dallas, TX, where we appreciate large portion sizes and anything that isn't better be deep-fried with a side of ranch and cream gravy if it's available. When we arrived at the drive-thru menu, I couldn't contain my excitement, which startled my boyfriend. The entire right side of the menu was filled with fried side options. He reclined his seat so I could get a better look. I decided on the grilled chicken gyro with sweet potato fries and an extra side of fried mushrooms. My boyfriend ordered the cheesesteak sub with regular fries. Everything was delicious! The sweet potato fries were the best I've ever tasted. On the way home, I realized they didn't just give ranch for the mushrooms. If they had, I would have given it a 5-star rating. I will definitely be going back to try more items on the menu.

Whenever I visit St. Pete, I always make sure to drive through to get a Fried Oyster platter for me and my daughter. They truly have the best Fried Oysters around. In addition to that, we have also tried their Steak Subs, Wings, Fries, and Milkshakes, all of which were delicious and served hot and fresh. The staff is always professional and courteous, and I want to give kudos to the management for their great food and service. Thank you!

My food is mostly fresh and seems to be prepared as ordered. The only issue I have with this location is the countless beggers (transients) that swarm your vehicle every time, even when you go through the drive-through. Not they're fault but geesh.

First time at Salems. Came in at around 1am to dine in. Served up some great gyros and fried gizzards. All at a great price too. Staff was friendly. Order was up quickly.
