Restaurant bewertenAfter reading such good reviews about this chippy online we were at Thorpe Park for the day and staying local. We just had to give it a try. We weren’t disappointed. Lovely food, very friendly staff and a fantastically clean environment. Our food was cooked fresh. What more could you ask for. Saved and noted. See you next time x
I’ve always loved Smiles. Visited last night for the first time in a while and still received the same friendly service and great food as I’ve always received.
Food was inedible, soggy fish, chips horrible. Went in the bin was better 5 years ago. Horrible taste not white inside. Thick layer of batter yuk, small size not fresh. Chips reused from yesterday. A quick Google search reveals an official 2 Star official unsatisfactory rating. Yuk! Not hygienic. Avoid.
First time visitor, lunchtime visit. Ordered Cod and chips, I did notice that the portion of chips would feed a family of 5 and it was only for me. Anyway , very quick service, but I am always dubious about ordering fish n chips and getting it within two minutes means the fish has been sitting a while. Much to my disappointment this was indeed the case. It was so bad the whole lot went in the bin and i bought a sandwich from the shop instead . Suffice to say first and last visit.
When it was Kings, it was first rate but the owner retired, we use to travel 5 miles, eat in the car.. Carried on with the new owners Smiles, for a few months it was great, but we then noticed a decline in the quality, of the fish, followed by the chips. We discovered a closer shop that had an acceptable standard, but now we have found a Jewel in the crown, the High Street Stanwell. Passing by Smiles , the other day , lets have a look. Haddock and Chips. What a disappointment. Cooked while we waited other fish in the hot cabinet. The fish meat was not white, lacked taste, the batter was not crispy and a residue of flour was present. Chips were not crispy on the out side and not fluffy on the inside. Dry as old boots. Only one size Cod says a lot, so what was the cut of fish. Locals may accept this as the norm, but it falls well short.
