Restaurant bewertenWe were planning on going to The Meadowdore cafe but it only opened at 10, so we called here instead. I ordered a coffee £2.80) and eggs on toast £6) and found that it was very expensive. It came with 2 small pieces of sourdough bread which was nice but reinforced the 'very expensive ' comment above. Both poached eggs were hard and if I hadn 't been so hungry, I would have sent them back. I had to wait 5 minutes to get a knife and fork. Service wasn 't great. Upon entering, three menus were handed over but before we 'd even looked at it, we were asked if we were paying together or separate. Mid order, the staff member then turned his attention to 2 guests who came in who were residents. My friend had a full english £12) and a latte £3.20) and that was not good value at all. My other friend had porridge, pancakes and a latte at a total of £13.20). I have to say that they accommodated his request for oat milk in his porridge and coffee which was good, but the prices were simply too steep. All three of us did not feel that we had any value for money here at all and would not go back unless everywhere else was closed.
Good café, coffee fine but only one size. Food quality is great.
Lovely little cafe/tea-room. Friendly staff...dog friendly too!
I have been working in the Lake District for a while and really enjoy the area. When my mother visited me, we stopped by a small café for coffee. Everything was fine until I inquired about vegan cake options. The guy working behind the counter's attitude suddenly changed and he became rude and sarcastic. He had a conversation with his coworker for about 10 minutes trying to figure out if there were eggs or dairy in some of the cakes, showing they had no knowledge of their own food's allergens. We decided to just get some coffee as they weren't sure about the ingredients in the cake. When our coffees arrived, they were lukewarm and tasteless. My mom was disappointed, so I spoke with the guy to express our discomfort. Instead of apologizing, he argued with me and insisted on not giving a refund. In the end, I recommend avoiding this café and trying the apple pie café in Ambleside instead. The owner's response below only reflects their rude behavior. Do yourself a favor and skip this place.
The staff at this restaurant is excellent. They serve a delicious breakfast that is perfect for fueling up before a hike. The coffee is also fantastic, and I recommend trying the Cumbrian sausages. Highly recommended!
