Smithys Marina - South Derbyshire

I had a wonderful 3-day stay at the campground. The size of the pitch was perfect and the location next to the marina was fantastic. The carvery at The Boat House was incredible. The shower was also very nice and hot. Just a heads up, you need to buy tokens to use the showers, which cost £2.00 for 10 minutes.

We decided to visit Shardlow after hearing about its beautiful surroundings. Upon arrival, we followed the sign to park behind the cafe. However, our experience was soured when a staff member was rude to my Mother when she approached the cafe. After a brief walk around the marina, we were approached by another staff member who accused us of parking in their lot with a different vehicle earlier. Despite our explanations, he was extremely rude and disrespectful. We do not recommend visiting this place unless you are willing to endure poor treatment and rudeness. We had initially planned to stop at the cafe for a drink during our long drive, but decided against it.

The Boathouse is now under new ownership and it's fantastic. The staff is wonderful, the owners are lovely, and the menu is excellent with very reasonable prices. The homemade pizza is the best I've ever had, even compared to pizza in Italy. I highly recommend this place, it's now my favorite spot in Shardlow!

Went to smithys it’s a lovely area outside especially if you have kids, there’s a few bits for them. Set in a lovely area overlooking the marina. Food looked lovely but we only went for a drink. The guy who runs it was a little...mardy but I guess it was a hot busy summers day

Visited Smithys whilst stopping on the Campsite next door. What a fab atmosphere and music. There was no live music the weekend we stayed but the music playing in the bar was great. Didn't eat here but the food that came to neighbouring tables looked...really nice and big portions. Staff were fab and very hard working. Very dog friendly too which is always a bonus when camping with to crazy legged friends!! Will definitely be returning.
