Best processor in Soldotna. Montana took great care of us and Lucas runs a tight ship. Can't recommend highly enough.

Kind of a pricey option, but if you don 't want the hassel of processing, vaccuum packaging, freezing or smoking your catch of the day, Alaska Seafoods Direct (DBA Custom Seafood Processors) can handle all or part of it for you. You 'll pay handsomely for the service, but they have lots of options to give you exactly the service you require. You pay by the drop off pound, so you 're smart to remove guts, head and tail before dropping off your catch. They even have a trade in option. Since smoked fish takes time to process, if you want instant gratification, you can turn in your fish and get ready to use, processed smoked and packaged fish immediately, for an additional charge. Alaska Sausage in Anchorage is cheaper, but if you 're from out of town and need services right on the Kenai then Alaska Custom Seafoods is very convenient. They also have a nice retail store up front with grab and go Alaska Seafood and game options that make nice gifts. The prices on those items were pretty reasonable as well.

They vacuum packed and froze approximately 40 pounds of fish we dropped off with same day service (it was not the busiest part of the season). Customer service was great on both intake and drop-off and they cut some of our larger fish fillets into smaller pieces (I suspect that was done to ensure a full freeze in the time allowed) without additional charges. This was my first time using this type of service so I have no opinion about their pricing.

We've used them to process our catch for the past 10 years and had excellent results, however, this year my wife and I noticed many of our frozen sealed packages of salmon have been violated and air introduced after only a short time in our freezer. Had another fishing buddy who has the same problem. New management took over this year... not sure if the two were related or not...May not use them next year...

I had a very good experience with Custom. I recently shipped some crab and fish. Custom accidentally forgot to include some halibut. I called them and they immediately said the would ship it the following day. They did and included several extra pounds to boot at their shipping cost. They could have simply credited off the missed pounds. Kudos for good service.
