Restaurant bewertenA nice treat for the family, having fried clams, fish and chips and scallops. My wife and I always grab a clam plate and fish and chip and split it with our youngest daughter. The prices are always fair and you get more than enough in your plate. It's one of Shediac's best hidden secrets for local seafood.
Never tried Acadien food before but after trying it here I am beyond impressed!! Not only is the Acadien food amazing they have hands down the best cheeseburgers (and I have tried a lot of different places). My youngest daughter(who is one of the fussiest eaters I know) absolutely loves their fish cakes and the fish. The service is extremely friendly and welcoming. Its also nice how you can see your food being made. I would highly recommend this place to anyone :) :)
I am an American of Acadian descent. When visiting Shediac I try to stop in to Menu Acadien at least once during my visit. During Labor Day weekend I visited and ordered the Poutine Rapee. It was very good. Good sized and tender. Apparently they had just become ready to serve. (Anyone who has ever made this dish knows how labor-intensive it is and how long it takes to make!). The salt pork center was a bit dry. I attribute that to today's overzealous persecution of fat in the diet. A little more meat would not have hurt either. That said, it was very tasty and they even had brown sugar available...........My parents made them the same way except more moist, AND, added salted scallions to the pork as a variation. Yum! Next summer I will try some other menu items. The service was very accommodating.I was very amused by Ericsar's experience as I had the exact opposite experience while visiting Québec about 30 years ago. I stopped at a local restaurant and saw Poutine on the menu and, thinking it was Poutine Rappe, was horrified to find a plate of gooey French Fries being set down in front of me. Gross! But I don't remember being that angry.........................
I learned all about the French Acadian people on my trip to PEI.
What can I say I was raised on this food and it brings back memories of growing up in a not rich time but food was made with what you had especially potatoes. Like their poutines and beignet and every thing else. You get full fast because it's good and tasty. We take different things so we can share. Good Acadian food.
