Restaurant bewertenMy husband, dog, and I visited this restaurant for dinner. We initially entered, but the server told us he would take our order outside. We chose to sit at a charming table and ordered the haddock and sausage, both of which were delicious. The drinks were also of high quality. The staff was incredibly polite and efficient.
During a recent visit to Whitby, my experience at this restaurant left a lot to be desired. When I asked a young employee at the takeaway window to fill my dog's water bottle, the proprietor insisted on selling me a bottle of water instead. Other nearby establishments were more than willing to accommodate our request, but not here. The greed displayed by the proprietor in this situation resulted in us deciding not to purchase our usual fish and chips takeaway from this restaurant. This unfortunate incident cost them our business for that day and any future visits.
The cod and chips at this restaurant were absolutely delicious - moist, slightly flaky, and cooked in a light, golden brown batter. Although we had to wait a little while for our food to be freshly cooked, the fish tasted fresh from the sea and had that classic fish and chips flavor. Our meal was served in polystyrene boxes with old-fashioned wooden chip forks, but it was still excellent. We were able to sit at a table inside the restaurant to enjoy our meal. We both agreed that this was the best traditional fish and chips we had during our week in Whitby, and it was only £8 per person. The only downside is that Russels seems to have rebranded as Angel Fisheries, with the same address and layout but a new frontage.
Walk up and down for 30 mins with the sat nav on walk and it kept saying we had passed it . . . Empty shop with a different name
We come here for lunch every time we're in Whitby and they never disappoint. Obviously, we couldn't eat in due to covid-19 guidance, so no people watching from the window, but the food was hot, tasty and beautifully cooked, and let's face it, that's why you go to a chippie? We will be back as soon as we can, it's a highlight of our visit.
