Restaurant bewertenWent here for lunch while I was in town for work. I knew it might be a **** shoot, given just how far we were away from any ocean or large body of water, but I figured it was a big enough city, so, why not. The service wasn't very attentive, and it seemed the staff found the customers to be more of an inconvenience than as human beings who might want to partake of their food. And that was the better part. I ordered some edamame as an appetizer, and then ordered a mix of sushi and a couple rolls off the lunch menu. The edamame showed up after I was half done with the sushi and rolls. I was also missing a couple of items I had requested. To say that this was more reminiscent of the first time I ever had sushi very bad sushi, and less of my sushi experiences in Tokyo, is the kindest way I can put how this sushi was. The yellowtail, which is usually one of my favorites, was not like any yellowtail I had seen before. The salmon was also a bit questionable. I started. There weren't any off tasting pieces, and the rolls were decent, but it just wasn't great. Also, for the rolls, a couple bites had a very ocean y, seaweed y taste to them, which is not indicative of good sushi. Couple all of this with the confused, inattentive service with annoyed attitude, and it's not a place I will return to.
If you're desperate for sushi, this is a minimal option. I stopped here for a quick work lunch. I was seated shortly after arriving. There were only a few patrons right at lunch hour. The menu had mostly bento box style meals, a sushi/sashimi boat choice, and an all you can eat (AYCE) sushi option. I was in the mood for some sushi but didn't have time for AYCE, so I went with the boat. The boat came with 6 pieces of nigiri, 6 pieces of sashimi and a role for 13 CAD. The nigiri was crab, snapper and salmon. It was disappointing having big, tasteless balls of rice topped with very small pieces of fish. The sashimi was just salmon, basically the cheapest option. And the role was shrimp tempura, also a cheap filler. Aside taking my order and delivering the food, the server was non-existent. No follow-up to make sure food was good or drink refills. He basically stayed in the front chatting with another server. Based on quality of food and service, I can't say I'll be coming back to this place anytime soon. Your better off finding another place for your money.
Going ahead and leaving a poor review on here as well, and going to continue this until someone contacts me. If service is adequate I would love to up the score. Feel free to get back to me, so that you are no longer in hold of food owing! Worst case, I am sure your manager can deliver it, seeing as it was your mess up. Have a great day! I am exceptionally upset with this company. :
I have been a loyal customer to this restaurant for a long time as it is close to my work. I ordered 4 rolls to go and picked these up after work. When paying i thought the price seemed high and questioned the staff but she said I had already been given a 10% discount. I got home and realized my order was incorrect and I recieved 4 different rolls and 2 appetizers. I immediately called and the lady said she knew after I left it was wrong and someone else took my food. I asked what my meal total was supposed to be which was 9 dollars less. i asked if they could deliver my correct order to which I was told they don't have delivery, despite being on skip the dishes. She told me the food I tooI was worth more than my original order so they would not refund me the $9. I explained repeatedly this was not the food I ordered or my error, and that I wanted my correct food and the difference back. She would only offer me a discount for next time which I did not accept and asked to speak to the manager. She said he was in China so I asked who was in charge and she said her English was not good and insisted I share my phone number so she could text me and translate And then did not contact me further. Out $31 and no food that I ordered. I will not be back.
I am a sushi lover and this place is simple and affordable, the amazing and lovely folks at Nisen always deliver a great meal (feast! and do so with the warmest service!! Sure it's not Sushi Kaji in Toronto, but for the price, and considering they have an all-you-can-eat menu, this place is easily one of Saskatoon's best. 12pm-1pm is busy everywhere downtown. if you want to beat the rush, get here around 11:30 and you will be treated to fast and fresh all-you-can-eat awesomeness. My many experiences here have ranged from lunch for two to a 10 person office lunch that is wrapped up in about an hour. Typing this has, not surprisingly lead to me now wanting Nisen for lunch today!
