Restaurant bewertenMy coworkers and I were discussing work one day when the conversation naturally turned to fresh seafood. I made a note to visit San Pedro, even though I had to go to bed early on Friday. The drive over the 710 at that time was beautiful, with the Long Beach International Gateway Bridge radiating colorful lights. Despite it being early on a Saturday morning, the place was bustling with seafood enthusiasts. They offer a variety of fish including salmon, squid, cuttlefish, swordfish, belt fish, Spanish mackerel, tuna, shrimp, rock crab, and even shark. They also provide fish cleaning services, but I prefer to do it myself. The offerings change weekly and it's best to arrive early. Ice, plastic bags, gloves, and styrofoam boxes are conveniently available. I have visited several times and have enjoyed trying new types of fish. Although it's tough waking up at 2 AM, the prices, quality, and variety make it worth the trip.
J&D is the top spot for buying seafood - it's consistently fresh and reasonably priced. They offer a wide variety of fresh fish and shellfish. At J&D, both large and small customers receive excellent personal service, which is truly appreciated.
I bought so much sea food for less than half of market price!! Only drawback is that I had to be there like 2 am in the morning but its totally worth it! I went there with few of my girl friends and we all bought so much sea food and loved it. We are going to go back for more fresh sea food and fish even if we have to stay up all night.
What an old school fish market is all about. Half of the place is where you can buy the freshest seafood to take home and cook yourself and the other half has the best fried oysters (and other seafood fair) on the West Coast.
The food court is located inside a small J D Seafood. Table seating is limited to approximately 8 small tables. If you hit the lunch hour rush, be prepared to wait for a table. The fish lunch special is adequately priced in my mind.
