Antoine's Cookie Shop - San Mateo

I rant and rave about this place all the time. Something about that salty aftertaste with chocolate makes me crave for Antoine! Parking is one of those gotta get lucky situations. Downtown metered parking or city parking at the train station. It 's very small inside, more room for them to work their magic I suppose. Menu is always the same, I feel like the 3 times I 've been there (spaced out in months, even years) they 've always had one special cookie amongst the usuals. Staff is always friendly, I value patience because I can be indecisive lol and me picking out a baker dozen can be quite the task. Prices are reasonable for what you get, my opinion ' and tastebuds. Oh, they have a little cookie warmer should you desire your cookie to be warmed up...yum yum.

It was my first time trying this place. I really should have just gone to beard papas for my sweet tooth fix, but the glowing reviews brought me here. Anyway, I asked the cashier what kind of chocolate was in the macadamia one and she said semi sweet chocolate, so I asked that's like a dark chocolate then, but she didn't know. So then I was like okay, forget it. I asked if the honey comb one was popular. She said yes. I asked what kind of chocolate. Again, she didn't know. In the short conversation, the young girl sounded irritated and hated her job. Sounds like based on other reviews and how the owner responds to low star reviews, customer service is not priority. Customer service is just the cherry on top for me. It's the taste of the cookies that I'm giving two stars. I got the dark chocolate and honeycomb cookies. Dark chocolate cookie tasted like a crappier version of Costco cookies. The honeycomb cookie wasn't good at all. Maybe it was a day old cookie? It was sort of stale, had huge chunks of salt, and was pretty flat. Either I got old batches of cookies or they still need to work on the recipe.

Best cookies in the Bay Area and friendly staffz If you like chewy cookies, this is the place for you. Highly recommend the Oreo and toffee cookie. Must get!!

Super yum! I love this area in San Mateo. Once you find street parking, it is nice to walk around. It's a small little cookie shop where you order at the counter and take your cookies to-go. These cookies are very very freshly baked. Toffee is one of their more popular options so I tried that along with peanut butter cup.
