El Jefe Mexican - San Marcos

This Restaurant is NO LONGER IN BUSINESS. Hopefully YELP will change the listing. I have sent in a message letting them know after driving up there for dinner last week. They have a chalk board sign in their front door saying they are closed and out of business.

Definitely the worst place to get food, only one other table in there eating huge red flag . I’d rather go to McDonalds and order off the dollar menu. They basically give you red water for salsa and the food tastes like you’re eating rubber. Highly disappointed.

This place is absolutely fantastic! You can tell their is nothing but heart and soul in this food. The warm smoky salsa is unique and full of subtle interesting flavors. The puffy tacos were delicious and not greasy, and the sopapillas will put others to shame. When we asked for a suggestion, Amy recommended the chipotle enchiladas, they were spot on. It was our first time going there and we live right around the corner. Support local great businesses and give them a shot!

The food is tasteless. In further detail: The margarita had no citrusy flavor, the salsa was red water and tacos al carbon were dried doggie biscuits.
