Restaurant bewertenThis place is located on a main street in a neighborhood. Was able to find parking in front of the restaurant on a Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.As a first-timer, I ordered the spicy sliced beef 5/5 which reminded me of the first time I had this dish at a very well known biang biang restaurant in Xi'an, flavors were spot on and delicious! I also ordered the original Shaanxi style pork burger 3/5. It was a bit bland for me; perhaps I should have gotten the cumin lamb burger, which would have been more authentic. Lastly, the three in one biang biang noodles 5/5! This was recommended by my server and was packed with amazing flavor!Service was great considering the restaurant was completely full. Surprisingly, every dish was very well priced, and portions were generous. Overall, I really enjoyed the food and will be back to try several other dishes!
Best of this restaurant was the atmosphere, with Chinese paper cutting art and a wall Terra cotta army. I’m not sure if the dishes were the most authentic Shaanxi dishes, but they featured a lot of dishes with lamb that my husband was excited about since glue doesn’t eat beef due to his religion. We ordered spicy pork ears, it was just as delicious as other pork ears we’ve had at other restaurants in San Francisco. We both ordered the stir fry lamb flat noodle (forgot the exact name), the proportion, looks, and smell was great except that it was a little bit too salty. This is a restaurant that I would definitely consider coming back to give other dishes a shot as Shaanxi flat noodles are hard to find in America.
I liked that the menu wasn't too complicated and there were many photos to help guide you.I LOVED the Shanxi Sesame Cold Noodle $6.95), especially the parts that were covered in sesame paste before l mixed up all the goodies in the bowl. The noodles were substantial and chewy, the cucumbers added a light crunch and sweetness to the savory creamy spicy sauce. The Biang Biang Noodle with Tomato Egg Gravy dish $12.95) was alright. I liked the texture and flavors of the cold noodles more.I'm neutral on wood ear mushrooms, but I tried one and it was ok. The cucumbers that came with it were really good crunchy and tasty! It was pretty mellow dining on a Wednesday evening lots of people picking up takeout orders though). The service was prompt and friendly ?Their dishes are fairly affordable, especially for SF!
It doesn’t deserve 4.4/5. Everything is around or below average among Chinese restaurants. Shannxi style burger and appetizers are way too salty.
So glad we tried Terra Cotta Warrior! We arrived exactly at 5:30 pm as we heard it gets crowded. Everything we ordered was delicious. It was perfect timing as my daughter was back in SF for Spring Break. We (party of 3) ordered six dishes. The Lamb with cumin on pita bread (lamb burger) came out first. The lamb was thinly sliced, flavorful and seasoned with cumin on crispy pita bread. Delicious!! For appetizers, we had the Wood ear mushroom fungus (big pieces) with cucumber salad and the jelly fish salad (very tender). We also had two orders of the Biang Biang Noodles with lamb and cumin. The hand pulled noodles were perfectly al dente, had excellent texture, the lamb was superiorly seasoned with cumin and stirred fried. The lamb soup contained a tasty clear broth with super tender small chunks of lamb and tiny pieces of floating pita bread. Every dish was superb! My favorites were the lamb burger and the Biang Biang Noodles with lamb and cumin. The service was very cordial and efficient. The food came out of the kitchen very quick , considering the entire restaurant was full and tons of to-go orders were being picked up. The decor was very nice, the restaurant clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely come back. I highly recommend this restaurant!
