Restaurant bewertenI'm visiting San Francisco from down south. I wanted a home cooked meal taste. We were greeted at the door and given a table immediately. The server was awesome. I had beef short ribs with gravy. First thing that threw me off was gravy on short ribs, I never heard of that before. Secondly when the ribs came out that's not the beef short rib cut I'm accustomed to. Thirdly the seasoning just wasn't there. I red beans and rice and macaroni and cheese for sides. The red beans and rice were pretty good, I'll say high C but the Mac and cheese could have been Kraft or something. No seasoning and just very basic. The restaurant was packed and it seemed like it had a lot of locals so I guess if you're from the city it's great but down South folk, this is not for us.
5 of us ate different meals and we were all very happy. Great friendly service, My 3 doctors have order me to Never eat indoor with other people, so I am overjoyed that Hard Knox Cafe on Clement still has outdoor dining, Thank you
All perfect as usual! Christina is absolutely terrific at dealing with the hustle bustle of a Friday crowd! As is the kitchen staff. The French Toast was/is amazing! As are the fruit salads. All meals keep to an excellence that is unbeatable!
Three of us had dinner on a weeknight. Street parking takes a modest amount of effort. The Resteraunt was busy but we were seated immediately. The food selection is southern U.S. with fried chicken, fried pork chop etc. the hot corn muffins came out quickly and were very good. The portions are large as are the sides so this is a large meal. The fried chicken was hot, well cooked and very tasty. The staff kept us stocked with paper napkins. Vegetarian options: They have vegetables but vegetarian is not the focus Dietary restrictions: Staff was attentive Parking: Evening street parking but we had to walk two blocks. Wheelchair accessibility: Outside dining had good access
Always predictably perfect. Service is wonderful. It's like being part of a family. And the food is consistently perfect. I almost always have a waffle (perfectly done) without the powdered sugar on top (comes with an ample portion of fruit) and order an additional side of fruit salad. It's always so fresh, it feels like there is an orchard out back and they pick the fruit right off the trees before serving it. I add a soft poached egg on top of the waffle, and enjoy every bite! My husband goes for the pear salad or the Cobb salad, both of which are equally delicious and enough to serve two, although he usually eats it all. And rarely does he share?
