Filippis Pizza Grotto Pacific Beach

I am a HUGE Filippis fan. I've been to most of their locations and usually very happy. But this time the pizza was super thick doughy and they changed the dinner salad (brocolli?? and worse, they changed their signature Italian dressing. Plus, the house chianti was vinegar. Not sure I will return to the PB location.

The best part of this place is the service! Bo was the most amazing waitress I've experienced for a long time. She was so attentive until she had asked if the children could have ice on the low point. All that was said the pizza left a little to wish. Honestly, I think a touch more salt in the dough would do much to make it more tasteful in the whole environment. Great shares and good value.

Delicious pasta sauce. Lasagna was a huge part, so the next day I took half for lunch home. Our waitress was so friendly!

I usually don't have many expectations of Italian-American restaurants, but that's probably at the end of my list. The food is not good and looks like a bathroom accident.

It was a few times at Filippis and it's just okay. The pizza is very dry and seems to be too thick, not cooked enough. The pasta dishes are muddy and the sauce tasted bitter and preserved. Not sure how this place all good reviews, but maybe they have people who like it.. I'm just not one of them.
