Restaurant bewertenOkay, that's a hard one to describe! when we first came in, the first impression was not the greatest. it seemed a little, maybe dirty? I don't know if that's the right word. like a little worn, table was wobbly, needed a wipe and other little things. it had the ol’ “hole in the wall” felt at it. the chef and the owner seem to lead the place, and he is very welcoming. he has a rather strong personality that is a little too much, but he grows on them. he talks about his history in miami and how his buffet miami eating with Peruvian influence reflected. immediately after we had set ourselves, he did not bring us the menus, he said he knew what for our 2 years old, went and got a plate with rice, a chicken drum and a piece of bread. he got menus, but somehow pushed for us to experience the buffet with this traditional miami / peruvian eating. we decided to give him a pfeife. he also spoke about this juice, that he makes that a baptism is mixed, it comes with the buffet and they serve themselves. it was really delicious. they can serve suppe, he had spicy seafood, bark meat and chicken soup. it had not really much meat in one of them, it was more the tasteful broth that had rice or sweet in them. I didn't think I liked it, but it was great. when they go into the “buffet” area, he says in the ground, they can choose what they want, but really asks them to get it off the Peruvian, and yes, why not. he continues to throw all food on top of each other and throws this juice/ sauce everywhere. pork and super delicate chicken. pork and root vegetables. Honestly, it was so good? overall it is the feeling that this place has. the chef is very personal and you go back because you eat and know his personality. it is not a traditional restaurant experience, it gives that miami culture vibe. if you are really worried about covid or germ, they probably are not the most convenient. they get the egg form a small dish with a scoop that everyone catches. the salsa people use are only in bowls on the theke that he says to take on the table, etc my biggest thing is that I went to pay, and he said the machine was down and asked if I could go to cash in the convenient business down on the road. when you look at other critiks, it looks like he's just trying to take cash. idk, what would have happened if we had credit cards right now. he has to put a sign on the window or something like it really seems deceptive. his bill or his acknowledgement has written the costs on a paper. Beyond that we had a fun experience and will probably go back!
Salsas are likely to be in the top 10 in san antonio! eating is good enough to secure it, but nothing life is changing. the service is as friendly and humble as anyone else says.
We arrived at 5:00 clock not know that the restaurant closed at 4. the chef welcomed us and asked us if we would eat there. we said yes and he told us we would be the only guests because he was closed. the restaurant was very dirty in our opinion. because she was closed for an hour, she should have been quite clean and organized. apparently he offers a buffet as it was still set up. again it was very dirty. he offered us to serve ourselves suppe. neither one of us liked the suppe and my wife found a sweet sticker in her suppe. we did not have any options for a meal or any kind of menu. He simply brought out two teller eats. we were served a quarter chicken leg, a side of pigs, tears and fried plantain (at least we think that this is what was the huh was good, the rice and drilling were ok, but the pig was completely hard and dry. when it was time to leave, he told us we had to pay money. we had a good idea he wouldn't accept. he should have told us we had to pay for money. we had some money for happiness. when we told him about the sticker and the pig, he immediately broke us over all his prizes as a cook and said it was not important that we had a bad experience. after him he has hundreds of customers every day. we could not survive his arrogance and could not wait to get out of his restaurant. we would say that it was probably our worst experience ever and the biggest wasted of money.
The food was delicious and a great variety. Waldito made sure there was a enormous amount of food on my plate. Great job!!I will return.
This place is some of the best food in San Antonio. You get a true sense of authenticity as soon as you walk in the door. Chef Waldo is a wonderful and funny man who has amazing skills in the kitchen. His ceviche is solidly the best I’ve ever had. A funny moment was when Chef Waldo brought me some leche de tigre. I said isn’t this good for a hangover? And he replied, “it is also an aphrodisiac… or some call it an aphrodisiac, I call it child support!” I will certainly be back every chance I get and will recommend Chef Waldo’s restaurant to anyone who will listen!
