Restaurant bewertenI 've been to BBQ Saloon many times for brunch dinner...But on Sunday, what caught my eye was nothing short of life changing. This handsome man behind the bar, wearing a sexy Hawaiian shirt made eye contact with me, poured me a Makers (without me asking), slid it down the bar into my hand. Between being in awe of his sexy Hawaiian shirt, slightly unbuttoned, chest hair showing, and sipping that glass of sweet ambrosia, I felt light headed.I asked his name he whispered Billy .Not sure how BBQ Saloon landed such a gem.He definitely portrayed the five 'P 's of world class service: pride, passion, preparation, professionalism and presentation.I 'll be back soon.
At first take I was not impressed. Even though it was slow, it took a few minutes to be acknowledged seated at the bar. Although when I was I was taken care of promptly, but...when I asked about menus the bartender pointed me to grab on from the box, I don 't have any back here . Somewhat lazy, but most are college students or in internships... I 'll allow it lol.Menu, not much to choose from, it 's pork, beef, or some chicken options. Not very vegan friendly (I am not vegan, I am a true omnivore, love my mixture of foods). Patrons were mostly regulars, shots going around, seemed like fun...a decade ago lol for me anyhow. I saw the food it looked great, smelled great. Check it out. I think it 's a great place for bourbon lovers
I really wish I could rate it higher. But when both the food and wait times are lacking, something 's got to give.I was excited to try my first St. Louis barbecue and was just a little hungry--I didn 't want a huge meal with sides and a basket of bread. So their menu looked perfect to me--two different varieties of mini sliders and even individual ribs for $3. I sat on the patio and ordered the brisket sliders and one rib. I was asked if I wanted the spicy or sweet barbecue sauce on the side, and opted for spicy. The food came out rather quickly. It was the first time in my life I had tasted tough brisket. What a disappointment. Brisket should be fatty, salty, soft to chew. This was stringy and dry. I dipped it in the sauce, which was good, but couldn 't save the meat. I did love the garlic-toasted bun. I hoped the rib might be better, since the menu had called it falling off the bone. Unfortunately, GNAWING off the bone was the best I could do. That piece of meat wasn 't worth $3.My server was at first very friendly and attentive, but when they checked on me at the end of my meal, I said I 'd like the check as soon as they were able. Fifteen minutes later the check was brought, and ten minutes after that my card was returned. I actually took the receipt with the tip inside because I hadn 't seen my server in ages and needed to catch a bus (I 'd already missed one).I used their restroom while I was inside. They are very spacious and clean.I wanted to return on a hungrier day and try their pork steak, but I 'm not sure I want to spend $20 if the meat will be the same quality this was. In a city known for its BBQ, they 're going to have to step it up.
I had some time to waste near Barnes-Jewish hospital and came here for lunch. I had to try the candied bacon and the Filet Mignon sliders were calling my name. In an effort to be semi-healthy I got the Cole slaw too.Everything was wonderful. The candied bacon was the best I ever had. The Filet Mignon sliders were incredible. The meat was delicious and tender. You simply have to try the cole slaw. I'm not a fan of Greek yogurt or blueberries but it works in this dish. It's excellent Cole slaw.
The location was not busy yet we waited at the door for a few minutes before someone not working told us he worked there and could sit where we wanted. Waited at the table for over 5 minutes before getting up to get our own menus. Finally had someone come to our table about 10 minutes later after serving all of the two tables around us. Took our drink orders after bringing drinks back I was able to ask for an appetizer before our waiter sped off. Never returned to our table until our app came out then I had to ask if we could order our dinner. Our app was supposed to be Mac N Bacon bites there was cheese and pepper’s definitely no bacon. We weren’t checked on again until our dinner came out. The pasta with pulled pork was supposed to have spice not only was it bland it also wasn’t pasta consistency. It was so stiff and lumped together you could put a butter knife in it and it would stand up on its own. The beans were like Busch’s baked beans and the pork steak and homemade bbq sauce had a flavor that was over smoked and filled your mouth in a bad way. Drinks were extremely weak for the price had to ask for a double to have any hint of bourbon in it. The Long Island was more sweet and sour than anything and wasn’t worth drinking. After spending over $100 on dinner and drinks, which is normal for us for good food, it was one of the most poor service and food experiences we have ever had.
