Restaurant bewertenMy wife and I called in for a late lunch whilst en route to a rock concert. We were welcomed to this large pub by the very attentive staff. We were given a nice table in a very airy large room with several other tables occupied. The restaurant consists of several other rooms as well, all of which had other diners in them. My wife chose the Chicken and pulled ham pie, served with fluffy mash and garden peas. The portion size was generous. She declared it to be excellent. I chose the Smothered Platter which consisted of a small beef steak to which I added a jug of peppercorn sauce,, a small gammon steak, fried egg, 2 rashers of bacon, several breaded chicken goujons, onon rings and chips, with a dish of barbecue sauce for dipping or pouring onto the dinner. It was very large and took a while for me to polish off. it was very very nice. After large mains we were almost full but managed to slip in ice-cream sundaes for dessert. My wife had the Cadburys Chocolate Sundae vanilla ice-cream studded with varoius pieces of chocolate especially toffee filled chocolate buttons) and smothered in chocolate sauce. I had the knickerbocker sundae layers of vanilla ice-cream and fruit salad and madeira sponge pieces with strawberry sauce poured over. Both were declared excellent. Service was quick, efficient and proficent from the helpful friendly staff.
Exceptionally poor coffee machines not working thus long queues for drinks and toast etc. Poor expiation of food choices food cold on arrival slow refilling of the continental section . Staff bordering on the rude and certainly unwilling to respond to complaints. Will never return to this location which is a pity as the staff in the adjoining premier inn are excellent. Understand both are owned by Whitbread plc. I suggest they look at staff training at table table.
Me and my friends visited recently for a late lunch. We were served by two girls called Sophie and holly who were lovely and friendly and provided great service. Food was also really nice. Will definitely be returning!!
Always a nice meal with very welcoming staff that go the extra mile. Thank you for another lovely meal with a special mention to Holly and Sophie who served us tonight.
At the end of a long day’s drive down from Scotland, this was a welcome break with hearty food and some rather good rosé (the Ned). Hollie, our hostess made us welcome and we left relaxed and pleasantly complete. We are big supporters of Premier Inn and its reliable offering, and that includes being able to get good quality food on site. Well done!
