Restaurant bewertenI ordered from the kitchen as I figured an hour would not be long enough for hotpot. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't spicy. I do want to go back and try the hotpot, though. It smelled amazing. UPDATE: I had the hotpot today with a couple of friends. I had to add the last star because it's really really good. We did the half spicy, half house pot. We ordered several meats including the lamb and garlic beef which were super tasty. We also got several vegetables including potatoes and napa cabbage. Everything was awesome. You're going to need a bib when you eat and a forklift to get you back to your car. Oh, and don't forget to get the traditional dipping sauce that the server will show you how to make. That was the best combination of flavors I could think of, especially with the cabbage.
My best friend and I ate here and we were very intrigued with the food and how it tastes. We've eaten a lot of Chinese Food in our lives and we must say this was the best. The staff was amazing, the hostess even asked us if we had a specific song to hear and she played it. We tipped her very well due to the fact of her exceptional service. We will be back.
Delicious meal and fun experience! Nice, clean atmosphere. Very helpful and friendly staff. Fun to customize and cook for yourself at table. Intimate and great for date night or friends! Reasonable price. We shared the half and half traditional broth and spicy broth which comes in a split pot you could easily share with friends or family. Both broths are very flavorful but slightly under seasoned for a good reason...so you can add the delicious sauces! We tried all of sauces which were all enjoyable. You can customize your sauces as well with condiments. The sauce we most enjoyed was the accompanying sauce they bring to you which tastes like a soy sauce based sweet vinegar and garlic sauce (much like a traditional dumpling dipping sauce). If you like a little bit of spice but maybe cannot handle fire on your tongue, I recommend getting both broths. I mixed a ladle of each in my bowl to get an enjoyable level of spice for me. Then adding a splash of the sauce perfectly balanced the flavor. My husband was able to enjoy the spicy broth on its own, just depends on your taste buds. Your can completely customize your order but the combos are a good deal for the amount of food they bring you. I recommend eating a light lunch so you can really take advantage of the large dinner portion they bring you. We tried combo 1 and 4. I’m glad I tried the combos my first time to order so I could see what I like best. Nothing went to waste at my table because my husband likes a little bit of everything, but I personally did not enjoy every item in the combo. I mostly enjoy simple ingredients- beef, lamb, potato, cabbage, noodles. My husband enjoyed all of the traditional Chinese ingredients- sweet sausage, meatballs, luncheon meat (sort of Spam), different mushrooms, seaweed, etc. If you already know you don’t like those items, then just customize your order for exactly what you want. If you’ve never eaten hot pot, ask the server to explain to you. She gave very helpful info on cooking times of each ingredient, but if you like yours cooked longer then that’s fine too. I like mine to stew for longer. We also ordered pork and cabbage fried dumplings which were perfectly delicious! We ordered the braised pork shoulder as well, but I couldn’t eat because I’m pregnant and it is served cold. My husband enjoyed it. If you do not like hot pot which is basically a cook at your table soup/stew, they do sell all the Chinese dishes you would see at other restaurants as well.
Best Chinese food in Jackson/Madison. Everything from the egg rolls to the hot pot entrée is beyond amazing and a true Chinese cuisine experience. The dipping sauces really allow you to tailor the flavor to your liking. We love the food and the staff and would highly recommend this restaurant.
After thoroughly enjoying our Sichuan hot pot experience at Dragon Hotpot, we decided to return and explore their Chinese food offerings. First and foremost, I must highlight the reasonable prices, generous portions, and the overall quality of the cuisine. Every entrée comes with a choice of fried rice or white rice. We opted for the Sichuan fish filet in hot chili oil. Don’t be fooled by the vibrant red oil—it’s not as spicy as it looks, with a mild heat at most. Underneath the oil, the boiled fish is surprisingly not greasy at all (just remember not to drown your rice in the oil). The large chunks of catfish fillets were fresh and flavorful, and I particularly loved the mala spice that’s signature in Sichuan cooking, which has been hard to find lately. Next, we tried the braised pork riblets in brown sauce. These tender ribs practically fall off the bone. They’re slightly breaded and fried before being braised in a deliciously sticky sweet sauce. Paired with rice, they made for a fantastic dish! My second favorite was the hand-pulled beef noodle soup. I’m a big fan of beef chunks with tendon, as the tendon adds a lovely gelatinous texture. The broth was meant to be light and delicate, and it certainly delivered. The noodles, however, were a bit overcooked this time, losing some of their chewiness, but overall, the dish was still excellent. Honestly, if the other items on their menu are just as good, Dragon Hotpot may become my go-to spot for authentic Chinese cuisine in the Metro Jackson area. Most of their entrées are priced under $10, offering real restaurant quality food. The service was great, the place was clean, and there was plenty of seating. In a previous visit, I had the opportunity to try their hot pot for dinner. We chose the half-and-half option, featuring both Sichuan spicy herbal and regular herbal broth. The spicy broth was excellent, while the regular broth was quite mild—perfect for a healthier choice. Hot pots are somewhat like American fondue—you can either have them preassembled or cook your own food at the table. We ordered sliced beef, beef tendon, fish filet, squid, octopus, enoki mushrooms, napa cabbage, and hand-pulled noodles. Everything was enjoyable, but the hand-pulled noodles were a standout! They had such a wonderful chew and perfect texture. Overall, if you’re looking for delicious and authentic Chinese food, Dragon Hotpot is definitely worth a visit!
