Restaurant bewertenThe wine dinner is a great option, especially with the specialties of the chef. the lobster ravioli was excellent. the service was also great.
Good Italian food. Took my date here for dinner the other night as we both wanted to check it out, then go out for a few drinks and enjoy the nightlife. The restaurant is located downstairs so it is not handicap assessable, just want to put that out there not that it affected us. The restaurant did have that romantic feel to it and the staff seemed very prompt and attentive however it really wasn't that busy. They had a wide variety of dishes and a extensive wine menu so you could get anything ranging from $40-$1800/bottle. Interesting items on their menu such as frog legs and asparagus parmesan. Feel like a sinner if you don 't like it... La Grotta is one of those sacrosanct Old Richmond restaurants. One of those places you 're always worried you didn 't use the right fork or heaven forbid! your napkin slid off your lap and you have to ask for a new one. Food is always consistent, but somehow I feel like I *have* to like it or something 's wrong with me. Judgment lurketh just around the corner. That said, if you can win over the aging as am I staff to your table horrors if you have been pre judged as inadequate! , they bend over backwards for you. The food is good, but doesn 't send me raving to Facebook to or Twitter to spread the word. But you can always name drop "I...read more
Very disappointing experience. we went to la grotta for a jubilee dinner on recommendation of some friends. we were there at 18 o'clock and our table was ready for us. the server told us about the specials and we ordered a special and regular menu item. the service was good and quite fast. the problem was that eating was only moderate. the Brunsino Special was a huge drop. while the fish were decent, it was so wild that they were not edible. the side of the kartoffels was dry and tasted like something they would get in an almost food restaurant. the scallops and garnelen diavalo was very average with little taste you would expect. the worst part...read more
Went last Tuesday (9-25-12) for the first time and had a wonderful experience. Ordered a cheap bottle of Pinot Noir, a quail dish and a buffalo ribeye. Everything was beyond delicious and the server was excellent! This is an upscale restaurant, with a great atmosphere and fabulous food!
