Walked in at 830 PM on a Saturday night. Restaurant was dead. Maybe 4 tables. Staff: We have an 8 top, so its going to be about a 15 minute wait. Us: That 's fine Staff: Well the kitchen closes at 930, just so you know Us: Okay, that shouldn 't be a problem if we 're seated by 9 Staff: Are you going to wait right here? Us: Is that okay? Is there somewhere else you would want us to wait? Staff: No here is fine. Us: Sits on benches in lobby. Staff 2: Have y 'all be helped? Us: uhhh, we think so? Staff 1 (no more then 5 min later): Hello, are any of y 'all here for pickup? Us: No, we 're waiting for a table. It was at that time we gave up hope on getting a table and went to the Denny 's down the road. Honestly, the restaurant had no more then 15 guests, 1 pending door dash pickup, and we were a 4 top. I don 't understand how Richmond can have 3 ihops and they are all garbage.
I and my guest waited 15 minutes to be seated at lunch, which wasn't terrible for lunch. We waited 10 minutes for our server to show and take our drink and food order. They brought our drinks within 5 minutes, and our food 45 minutes later. That 45 minutes was the first time we saw them since our order was taken. No update was provided to us, and no refills on our drinks were offered. Unfortunately, both orders were nearly completely wrong, and no flatware was brought to us. Nearly three minutes later they brought us plastic flatware. The experience was so awful my guest and I chose not to send back the food, as it took so long to get the wrong food, and did not eat what was brought to us. We asked for the check, explaining our dissatisfaction. No apology or discount was offered, and it took 10 additional minutes for them to process our bill. There was no indication this IHOP was short staffed, as we saw four servers for a half open seating area, three kitchen staff go in and out, a host, and perhaps two members of the management team. This restaurant is in a prime location, but its staff appears poorly trained and managed. Significant improvements must be made.
First time visiting this location and did not disappoint. We were seated within the minute once we walked in and had our server minutes later. Wait time was less than 20 after our food was ordered. The food was delicious and and on point. Our server was a young lady named Asia, and she was nice constantly made sure she was good. My only gripe, from a supervisor standpoint, was that was a considerable amount of shop talk on the floor conserving hours and things of that nature. Should be had off the floor, considering not too many people would be happy with told they have too many hours and they need to go home lol.
Arrived around 12:45 on a Saturday, maybe 4 tables in the restaurant. Our server came to the table quickly and took our order without writing anything down (gigantic red flag). We then waited almost an hour to get our food. For a party of two in a not busy restaurant, that?s unacceptable. It then took the server another 20 minutes to bring our check. I?d say I won?t be back, but judging by the people working there, I don?t think they care. Start writing down orders if you?re going to forget to ring food in.
